Injury Notes

Defensive ends Nick Bosa and Leonard Floyd, along with offensive lineman Colton McKivitz, who did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, returned to the field with their teammates on Friday.

However, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir remained absent and are ruled out for Sunday. Neither offensive lineman Spencer Burford nor defensive lineman Robert Beal practiced either.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan noted that some of the injured players might have been more likely to play under different circumstances. However, with the 49ers eliminated from playoff contention, their availability is less critical.

"Guys would be pushing real hard to play, and we'd probably let them," Shanahan said. "In this case, they're pushing hard to play, and we're not gonna let them."

Regarding Samuel's injury, Shanahan said, "It's been up and down throughout the year. Even when he's good, he's still battling stuff through the season, especially the way he plays, and running with the ball, and the physicality and everything, doing the kick returns. He's hurting right now, but he'll be alright a few weeks after the season."

Quarterback Josh Dobbs will start in place of the injured Brock Purdy, marking his first start with the 49ers. On Monday night, Purdy suffered a right elbow contusion with nerve inflammation against the Detroit Lions.

When asked whether Purdy's injury might have sidelined him for additional time if Sunday weren't the final game of the season, Shanahan responded, "I don't think so. I think we'd be working him out really hard today to see if he had a chance for tomorrow."

On Friday morning, general manager John Lynch provided additional insight into the severity of Purdy's injury.

"Everything's all right," Lynch said. "Brock's gonna be fine, and just a deal where it's got to quiet down."

Below are Friday's practice participation reports for both the 49ers and Cardinals, which were provided by the 49ers Communications staff.
