San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Isaac Guerendo shared positive news on Monday morning, revealing via social media that he avoided a dreaded ACL injury, which would have jeopardized his 2025 season. Guerendo reassured fans, stating he will "be back better than ever."
While he did not dismiss the possibility of an ACL injury, after Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals, head coach Kyle Shanahan initially told reporters that Guerendo "most likely" sustained an MCL injury.
Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports that the running back's MRI confirmed Shanahan's assessment. Guerendo suffered an MCL sprain and an ankle sprain against the Cardinals. While the injuries are a setback, they are far less severe than an ACL tear.

The 49ers selected Guerendo out of Louisville in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The rookie running back finished his first NFL season with 420 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 84 carries, averaging an impressive five yards per attempt.
