Michael Ginnitti, the managing editor at Spotrac, recently projected a four-year, $194 million contract extension for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. The deal, which includes $100 million guaranteed, would average $48.5 million per year—making the 25-year-old one of the NFL's top 10 highest-paid players.
Fan reactions to the projection have been mixed. Some believe the valuation is reasonable, while others feel it overshoots or undershoots Purdy's worth.

Ginnitti posed several key questions when calculating Purdy's potential contract value, with doubts clearly influencing the projection.
"Has Purdy done enough to demand a near top-of-the-market contract?" Ginnitti asks. "Does his value outside of the 49ers create leverage? Will the Niners play hardball here? Common sense says the two sides move quickly on this deal, coming in at a healthy, but not crushing, bottom line number."
While some argue Purdy has earned top-tier money after guiding the 49ers to two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl in his first two seasons, others remain cautious. His dip in production this season—partly due to missing key offensive playmakers—has sparked skepticism.
Many fans agree Ginnitti's projection is fair, offering Purdy a significant payday while allowing the 49ers some flexibility to continue building a competitive roster around their young quarterback.
Here's how fans weighed in on social media:
It isn't happening. Purdy has a better resume than most of the other QBs that recently got paid, so there's absolutely no reason he should take less than them.

It's too low. But wouldn't surprise me if Brock takes a team friendly deal.

This is good, keep him under $50M a year and I am sure the 4th year there is way out

This is fair but I bet he will get a lot more

He will be a hold out to regular season at that number. ZERO chance of less that $ 275 for 5. Zero. He's better that 5 of them at 250m and he IS NOT giving a home town discount
