The San Francisco 49ers might be on the verge of losing two key members of last year's staff. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, 49ers assistant head coach Brandon Staley is the frontrunner to become the New Orleans Saints' defensive coordinator under head coach Kellen Moore.

Staley, the former Los Angeles Chargers head coach, joined Kyle Shanahan's staff last year. His potential departure comes after missing out on the 49ers' defensive coordinator role in consecutive seasons—first to Nick Sorensen in 2024, then to Robert Saleh this year. After that, he was not expected to return.
The 49ers are reportedly adding former NFL head coach Gus Bradley to Shanahan's coaching staff in an unspecified role.
Meanwhile, Schefter also reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to interview 49ers director of scouting and football operations Josh Williams on Tuesday for their general manager position.

Williams is well-respected within the organization, and has been with the 49ers for 14 seasons, earning a promotion to his current role in 2024 after serving as both a national and area scout.
The Jaguars fired general manager Trent Baalke on January 22, shortly before hiring former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their new head coach.
