The San Francisco 49ers are expected to release defensive tackle Javon Hargrave soon, making him a free agent. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Minnesota Vikings are poised to sign Hargrave once he becomes available.
The #Vikings aren't done: They're also closing in on a deal with two-time Pro Bowl DT Javon Hargrave and plan to sign him after his release from the #49ers is official Wednesday, sources say.

General manager John Lynch stated in January that the 49ers plan to release Hargrave with a post-June 1 designation. This move will save the team $2.2 million in cap space this season. However, the savings will not be reflected until after June 1.
Hargrave, 32, spent the past two seasons with the 49ers after signing a four-year, $84 million contract in 2023. During that time, he recorded 51 tackles (nine for a loss), 15 quarterback hits, eight sacks, and two passes defensed.
Hargrave's 2024 season was cut short by a torn triceps suffered in Week 3. He finished the year with seven tackles (one for a loss), a sack, and a quarterback hit.
His best season came in 2022 with the Philadelphia Eagles, when he recorded 60 tackles and a career-high 11 sacks.
