Chad Reuter's previous mock draft went three rounds deep. This time, the draft analyst expanded his projections to four rounds in his latest mock draft for NFL.com. While many mock drafts only emphasize the talented projected to be selected in the first round, Reuter notes, "Rounds 2-4 are littered with notable names who could provide significant value."
Most expect the San Francisco 49ers to target an offensive or defensive lineman with their first selection, the 11th overall pick. Reuter has general manager John Lynch reinforcing the offensive line by selecting LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell.
"Campbell's relatively short arms (32 5/8 inches) and narrow frame (77 3/8-inch wingspan) may push him inside at the next level, but the 49ers are thrilled to see him available here to challenge for the open left guard spot," Reuter explained. "Like the Colts' Braden Smith and others, Campbell may eventually get the chance to prove himself outside to replace Trent Williams or Colton McKivitz."
Campbell (6-6, 319) is the second offensive lineman off the board in Reuter's mock, following Missouri tackle Armand Membou, who lands with the Chicago Bears at No. 10—one pick before the 49ers.
In 2024, Campbell posted a career-high 80.6 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, allowing just two sacks and 18 pressures over 558 pass-blocking snaps. His performance earned him first-team All-SEC honors and consensus All-American recognition.
However, his 69.7 run-blocking grade was a career low, contributing to an overall offensive grade of 72.2—also a personal low. Still, his skill set suggests he has the tools to develop into a standout NFL blocker.
Reuter continues strengthening the trenches in the second round, addressing the defensive line before adding secondary and running back depth in the third round. As for the fourth round, he has San Francisco adding a wide receiver and linebacker.
Reuter's projected 49ers selections in rounds two through four:
- Round 2, Pick 43 Overall: DT Tyleik Williams, Ohio State
- Round 3, Pick 75: CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame
- Round 3, Pick 100: RB Dylan Sampson, Tennessee
- Round 4, Pick 113: WR Dont'e Thornton Jr., Tennessee
- Round 4, Pick 138: LB Nick Martin, Oklahoma State
