With the draft approaching, many expect the 49ers to prioritize the offensive line, particularly at tackle, as they look to upgrade the position and identify a potential successor to Trent Williams on the left side. The team could also seek to bolster its depth in the trenches.
Grant was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, where he measured in at 6-foot-5 and 311 pounds. While he did not participate in on-field workouts, he logged 19 bench press reps.
The standout tackle posted an impressive 91.2 offensive grade from Pro Football Focus in 2024, including a 90.4 run-blocking grade and an 88.1 pass-blocking grade. Over 767 total snaps—372 of them in pass protection—he allowed just nine pressures and two sacks while starting all 12 games at left tackle.
A decorated collegiate player, Grant was named a first-team Associated Press FCS All-American in 2024 and earned first-team All-Coastal Athletic Association honors in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
"Highly consistent performer with elite length and better technique than many prospects coming from a higher level of competition," NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein wrote in his draft profile. "Grant played with both urgency and positioning in William & Mary's zone-heavy approach, but he needs to add bulk and improve his pad level to play with the drive and anchor needed as a pro. The former high school wrestler utilizes a bag of tricks with his protection approach and possesses adequate core strength to absorb a speed-to-power pass rush. He could develop into a solid pro as either a guard or tackle if he cleans up issues with hand usage."
With his size, skill set, and high level of play, Grant could be an intriguing prospect for the 49ers as they evaluate potential additions to their offensive line.
