Last month, NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter released a four-round mock draft with the San Francisco 49ers strengthening both sides of the trenches in the early rounds while adding depth and potential contributors later.
In his latest projections for NFL.com, Reuter expanded his mock draft to five rounds. His pick for the 49ers at No. 11 remains unchanged—he still has San Francisco selecting LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell in the first round.
"The 49ers add Campbell's strength and pass protection skills at left guard," Reuter wrote, "with the chance he eventually takes over one of the tackle spots if Trent Williams or Colton McKivitz are injured or move on."
With swing tackle Jaylon Moore departing in free agency, Campbell could offer valuable depth if he doesn't immediately win the starting job on the right side. He'd have the opportunity to learn without the pressure of starting, while positioning himself as a potential long-term successor to Williams on the left, where he played most of his collegiate snaps.
Campbell is the second offensive tackle off the board in Reuter's mock, following Missouri's Armand Membou, who goes to the Chicago Bears at No. 10.
In 2024, Campbell posted a career-best 80.6 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus, surrendering just two sacks and 18 pressures across 588 pass-blocking snaps. However, his run-blocking grade dipped from 84.9 in 2023 to 69.7 this past season.
Later in the draft, Reuter has the 49ers reloading the defense, selecting two cornerbacks and two defensive linemen. San Francisco lost key contributors this offseason, including cornerback Charvarius Ward and defensive linemen Javon Hargrave, Leonard Floyd, and Maliek Collins.
With Dre Greenlaw departing in free agency and Jordan Mason being traded, Reuter also projects the team to draft a running back, linebacker, and tight end.
Here are Reuter's projected 49ers picks from rounds two through five:
- Round 2, Pick 43: CB Trey Amos, Ole Miss
- Round 3, Pick 75: DL Fadil Diggs, Syracuse
- Round 3, Pick 100: CB Quincy Riley, Louisville
- Round 4, Pick 113: RB Dylan Sampson, Tennessee
- Round 4, Pick 138: LB Nick Martin, Oklahoma State
- Round 5, Pick 147: TE Mitchell Evans, Notre Dame
- Round 5, Pick 160: DT CJ West, Indiana
