The San Francisco 49ers worked out five players this week as they begin preparations for their Week 2 matchup against the Miami Dolphins at Levi's Stadium.
According to the NFL transaction report, the following players worked out for the 49ers:
- TE Lawrence Cager
- TE Tanner Conner
- DT Daniel Ekuale
- DT Larry Ogunjobi
- TE Jack Stoll
The 49ers could be without tight end Jake Tonges for an extended period after he suffered a knee injury in the team's Week 1 win over the Los Angeles Rams.
"It wasn't good," head coach Kyle Shanahan admitted after the game. "I mean, it's not an ACL. It's MCL, I believe. But there's some issues with it that we've got to see how it is."
Meanwhile, the 49ers made a couple of roster moves on Tuesday. They promoted tight end Brayden Willis from the practice squad to the active roster to add depth at the position after Tonges' setback.
San Francisco also signed defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson to its practice squad. The 49ers could continue exploring options at tight end and along the defensive line as they prepare for Sunday's matchup with Miami.
