The San Francisco 49ers have officially announced the trade of Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs. They even started a #THANKYOUALEX hash tag on Twitter.
At the end of February, it was revealed that the 49ers had a trade deal in place with the Chiefs. The 49ers will get a second round selection this year and a conditional pick next year.
The deal could not be officially announced until the start of the new NFL year, which began today at 1 PM.
