what's a snake drafT?

A "normal" live draft where the draft position "snakes" back and forth (1-10 then 10-1) as opposed to like the real draft where you have the same position in each round.

In an auction, you also snake "position" but that position is only to nominate a player and give an opening bid, then whoever has the higher bid gets that player and the next person nominates another player.

I prefer a regular draft as well, but that's because I don't have as much experience with auctions. ESPN has a mock draft tool that also lets you do mock auction drafts.

If anyone is up for it, I'd be game for getting a few (at least 5 to make it interesting) or so of us together and doing a mock auction draft or two to see if we can get into it and if it goes well maybe trying it for the real thing.

Here's the link for the mock auction draft lobby:

I'd prefer a snake..I've never done an auction draft before so I feel as though I'd f**k it up.
The reason I like auction is that it allows you to bid on the players you want and not be at the mercy of a randomly selected draft position.

But I'm okay with doing a snake draft if you guys aren't comfortable with auction drafts.
ATG.. sorry I took a while to get back to you. Thanks for the invite. I'm in.

lets go with snake
Heads up/thoughts on a possible draft date.

Here are a few dates to keep in mind and a personal conflict that might help us decide on a draft date.

The regular season starts on Sunday April 5th. I will be unavailable from March 10th-March 21st.

The following weekend is March 28th/29th. That gives us a full week for roster moves/waiver wire pickups/trades between the draft and the first game.

It also gives us pretty limited window for position battles/injuries from spring training to affect our rosters post-draft. So, assuming weekends work best for everyone and that no one has a specific conflict that weekend, I think it could be an ideal draft date.

Thoughts?
^ That date works real well for me. Basically I can't draft between Feb. 28th and March 11...anytime after that and I'm golden.

Ill be out of town that weekend.

But its cool Ill just set my order of picks predraft.
Everyone else keep posting any conflicts they have in March. I'll pick the week that has the least amount of conflicts.
