Schaub is definitely a good QB 1. You are right though, need a more dependable backup.

I know
you're the 2nd person to say Welker though, but I don't know about his value in a non-PPR league being greater than Jackson who is the big play threat for SD and who won't be holding out this season. His QB aint too shabby either

I'd go with Jackson for exactly the reasons you just stated.
If it was PPR, Welker would be the pick.
