12 team league - i am 7-3 and highest scoring team. Play 2 rbs, 2 wrs, 1 flex, 1 te, 1 qb, 1 k, 1 def
Roster:
QB Schaub
RB Chris Johnson, THomas Jones, Ryan Grant, LeSean McCoy, Donald Brown
WR Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Santana Moss, Muhammed Mossequoi
TE Vernon Davis, Brent Celek
I have been talking trade with an owner who really wants Thomas Jones and Brent Celek. I would like to upgrade at WR (especially with Orton getting hurt in Denver) and I now have some insurance at RB with McCoy in Philly.
Is this a fair deal or am I giving up too much to get Reggie Wayne?
Thomas Jones
Brent Celek
Santana Moss
for
Reggie Wayne
V. Shancoe
Ledell Betts

I wouldn't exactly say you're giving up too much. I would say you're just shifting your problem. If Westbrook is done for the year and we knew for sure McCoy was going to tote the rock in Philly. Then I'd say hell yea go do that. But to put D.Brown and McCoy as your3rd RB's. I wouldn't do it.
I personally would try and trade Celek, Moss and maybe McCoy or Brown. For a top tier #3 or a low end 2nd tier type WR.
Then you're set with 3 WR's and 3 RB's.
But if you're only trading partner is the guy you mentioned. Then maybe you try and throw in McCoy or Brown take out his Shancoe and Betts. Have him throw in a WEAK #2 OR A STRONG #3 RB.
Then you help your team.

I know this is good advice but you kind of lost me in the last paragraph. What trade are you recommending? I tried with Grant and also a package with Donald Brown (since he has Addai) but he said no. I may just pass but I do like Wayne a lot!

instead of
Celek
Jones
moss
for
betts
wayne
shancoe
try
celek
moss
mccoy or brown
for
a #2 or #3 WR
but if the only guy willing to trade with you is the guy wanting jones.
try
jones
celek
moss
mccoy or Brown
for
Wayne
#2 or #3 RB.
Seeing how you just said he has Addai (who is his other RB's BTW)
I'd try
jones
celek
moss
mccoy
for
Wayne
addai

Wasnt able to work out a deal with that owner but another possiblity has come up with Ronnie Browns injury. That owner needs RB help and I was thinking of this. What do you think?
Thomas Jones and Brandon Marshall for Larry Fitzgerald and a throw in. Worth it?

why are you so hell bent on giving up 2 good players for 1?
As it stands you have 5 quality starters where you need 5. If you do this trade you are down to 4 and have to throw someone in the flex. When playoff time rolls around you want as many options as possible.
Yes Orton hurt hurts Marshall now. But what about week 15 and 16 antasy playoffs?
Yes westbrook is hurt now so mccoy is a good start. But what about week 15 and 16?
All you need is a #3 WR you can throw in there if you had too. I'd try and get Bowe for McCoy if I could. McCoy could help him now while Bowe is out and Bowe could help you in the playoffs.
But with Westbrook like out for a lil while you may be able to sale McCoy now to help out the WR position. just got to find the right partner and make the right offer

Just trying to use my depth to upgrade big time at WR. Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson would be pretty huge. Marshall would be expendable. My thinking was that with McCoy clearly being the starter now and having Chris Johnson and Ryan Grant I could afford to move TJ.
I guess I shouldnt mess with a good thing but always looking to upgrade if possible.

I don't blame you for wanting to upgrade. You should always try to upgrade. But the key is to actually Upgrade. Now if you gave up Marshall and a bench player. McCoy, Brown, Moss or Celek for Fitzgerald. Then you are upgrading your team. To give up 2 starters and only getting one back. No matter if he's better, isn't upgrading your team.
Same if you gave up Jones and Moss or Jones and Celek for Fitz. You're only giving up one starter and getting one back.
You already have 5 really solid players to start in the playoffs. Without looking at the schedules. If you trade to upgrade. Try to maintain that.

Thanks! Tried Jones / Santana Moss and Marshall/McCoy for Fitz but got turned down. I will probably just stick with my team as the deadline for trades is next Friday.

my gut feeling is that RB are a safer bet than WR, wayne has had a great season tho. It basically comes down to wayne or TJ. I'd prob go Jones. Just IMO

Can you post the Westbrook owner's team and the Bowe owner's team?

Westbrook: that team is horrible and has no one that would be upgrade. Well.. I could give McCoy and Celek for Dallas Clark I suppose but I just dont think thats enough of an upgrade to give up McCoy.
Bowe:
QB McNAbb Kolb
RB Slaton Charles Bush L White F JAckson
WR Bowe R Moss N Washington Bryant Holt
TE Olson

Don't see where you could help the Bowe owner but you could try. Worst he can say is no.
The Westbrook owner don't have a WR better than Moss? You don't just have to upgrade the starting unit.
