Oh well then whats the reference to the thread this question came up in?

But to answer your serious question I think its retarded to have championship games in week 17.
Im in one and Im benching all my starters for people I just added pretty much.

The reference to the thread is that people support it. I play with some serious cats and they cant stand it. This is just to show that some people actually like it. I thought everyone avoided week 17 playoffs.
I'm cool with playing to whatever rules people want to go with. Every league presents a challenge.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Week 17 championships. But to be honest, I'm not big on how in fantasy football, the best team is rarely the winner anyway. So week 17 championships is just another thing to deal with.

I'm in a league where I finished with the most points in the league and didn't make the playoffs. How is that fair? Fantasy football is not fair. So playing a week 17 championship in football is almost fitting.

I'm in a championship this week and I'm forced to play David Garrard, Devin Aromashadu, and Todd Heap over Brady, Colston, and D.Clark, out of fear. Kinda negates the point of building a strong team.

I did pretty well there.
I think it's stupid, but if you're not the commish of a league then there's not a whole lot you can do. Today I had the second week of a two-week cumulative championship game (which I won btw ) and I was lucky to have a lot of guys on teams that didn't sit their starters, and I won. I only had to pick up and start one guy, and that was Devin Aromashodu.
I don't see what the big deal is. I had a two-week championship that ended yesterday and won it, and almost all of my starters played, with the exception of Cedric Benson, but I picked up his backup so I was good to go. And the guy I played against was well aware that a lot of starters would be out so he picked up their backups as well (for example: he had Drew Brees, but started Brunell yesterday). Since it is a two-week matchup then it's a wash anyway, imo.
I don't know if saying someone was forced to start Mark Brunell is a great argument for Week 17 Championships.

But I understand the point.

My point is that you prepare for it accordingly...whether that means picking up and starting backups or not. It's part of the challenge of creating a fantasy team, imo - accounting and planning for this type of situation, when you know that coaches will rest their starters. It's not like this is a big surprise to anyone.

you never know what the situation will be like if a super star like brees will have to play cause they are fighting for a spot, or he will be benched cause they did so well

you can draft good backups but I think week 17 championships are stupid, you should be able to go into the championship game at full strength for both sides

but that's part of the regular season as well...sometimes you don't know if your starter will play or at the last minute if he gets benched or whatnot. it's the risk you take, imo
