noob here
could someone explain the difference between roto and h2h?
actually a better question is: is roto? I know what h2h is

Roto is just total points counted. No weekly matchups like in fantasy football. Just whoever has the most points at the end wins.

I'm really thinking about changing it to head-to-head
Apparently there are only a few of us who know/understand roto style of play.

It really isnt that hard. You have 10 categories:
Hitting:
Average
RBI
Runs
Steals
Homeruns
Pitching:
Wins
ERA
WHIP
K's
Saves
If you have 12 teams then you are ranked in every area. If you are the best in a category then you get a 12. If you are worst you get a 1. Very simple
You then add up your total points across all categories to determine the top teams. There is no scoring system to worry about with points and its really very simple. You have to have a balanced team across all areas. You need speed, saves, power, etc.. You dont have to "win" any 1 category to win the league.

I know exactly what it is..I've played in plenty of them..but yeah, switching to H2H.

I believe this was for those who "dont know or understand roto style of play" It simply couldnt be more simple. What actually makes it easier for most people to play is that the majority of magazine or internet rankings are based on roto. I actually think it is a better judge of how balanced a team is. But, H2H can be more fun.

Just the default it was on most likely because all teams aren't playing on Week 1 (March 29th)

Yep. Last year was just standard 5X5 head to head. I think we should do a points H2H system this year. Roto just doesn't have the competitive interest that H2H has imo.

lol at the "people don't know how to play roto" comment.
H2H is way more involved, usually has way more participation (at least in public leagues, roto leagues everyone stops caring) and is just funner.
Imagine doing a roto fantasy football league.....that's what I thought.

Actually J, the first week includes March 29 to April 11. There's only one game on the Sunday before the main opening day. If you set it to Week 1 (which I think you should), it'll just throw that one game into the Week 1 scoring.
In simpler terms, Week 1 is considered Sunday to Sunday. Week 2 doesn't start until April 12.
