FF Draft Parties.

So have any of you guys ever hosted one? I might try to host my first one.

Is it better than online drafts? Is it boring? What if one player doesn't show up. Should I ask the guys for $ to host the party?

Is a person really needed to run it who is not playing, or can I handle it?

So far I got my menu set- Pulled Pork Sandwiches and of course wings.

Need to get a draft board and timer.

I guess throw some football follies on the TV?

Any cool tips or suggestions please toss em out there for me.

It's the best part about FF, online drafts are lame. It's like the kick off to the season, a bunch of dudes getting together to drink and talk about football.
Me and my buddies usually set around a poker table. The commish has our ESPN fantasy page up and going on the labtop as we make our picks. We also have a big board on the wall. We don't have a timer but usually people are making there picks pretty reasonable.

We have a deck of NFL Fantasy Cards. Not sure where he got them. But, there numbered 1 to 10 or 12 depending on how many teams are in the league. Whom ever draws what number picks at that spot.
Ive always wanted to be at one! We really should try and get the 49erswebzone folks together for a 10-12 teamer! Im down!!!
With the online leagues, i believe they have their own timer. You may just need to gauge it based on who is attending and whether or not they are being dumb about it. I always play for money, so usually the draft party fee is added on to make it easier on the host.

We usually go for $50.00, where $10.00 from each entry goes to the draft party. 10-12 dudes sitting around drinking and eating can get expensive, so it is fair to ask for money or potluck the whole thing....
