Is it PPR league. If it is I would take the RB like McCoy, Foster and Ray Rice. You can wait for the QB in round 2. If it's standard league with no PPR than take Rodgers, Brees or Brady.

I'm leaning more towards the RB now. I've always gotten lucky and grabbed mid round RBs that panned out well, probably not a good idea to count on that this year. I'm hoping people will sleep on Rivers and I can grab him in the 4th.

My buddy contemplated the same exact question. I was able to talk him out of a QB at #3 just a few hours before his draft.
He ended up with...
1. Mccoy
2. AP
3. Brandon Marshall
4. Stevie Johnson
5. Vick (he's an eaglefan but Rivers and Romo also on the board)
6. Garcon (vernon davis taken 2 spots earlier)
7. Pettigrew
8. (vick is injury prone so he took a backup had choice still between rivers and romo but rivers same bye so took Romo)
can't remember the rest
12 team league where QB's dominate the league and his team looks awesome. Had he took a QB at #3, the same wouldn't be said IMO
EDIT**** the fact is there are now 12 quality guys you can start in FF now. and if you have a guy or two that falls in love with rookies (luck and RGIII) it only increases the pool there. while the depth of really good RB's you can leave in week in and week out are dwindling.

I kind of want the guaranteed points week in, week out the the elite QB will snag. Those other guys are capable, but not on a week to week basis. I've pretty much decided on Rodgers.
Exactly why I think you should take the running back early. You want to find the guy who you're most comfortable with and take him because if you wait and take the best option available chances are you're going to get a dud as your top running back.
QB's are alot more certain. I know what Matt Ryan or Matthew Stafford is going to bring to the table should I pass on a qb.
Exactly. Rodgers will outscore every RB, but if youre picking 1-3, one of Foster/Rice/McCoy is going to get you one of the very few elite RB, and you may be able to take Stafford or Newton in round 2, who wont be that far behind Rodgers.

The drop off at QB from 1st to 2nd round is very small compared to the drop off in RB position.
You are more likely to nail the 1st 2 rounds with a stud RB in the 1st

#3 and your 4th for #7 & #18. Assuming that guy came to you. if you are going to him no way he'd do that trade.
then i'd go, Brees, Brady or Stafford at #7. Murray or Charles at #18. Chatles or SteveJax at #22 Roddy White/Jennings or Marshall at #27

I was doing a mock fantasy draft and I went RB with my first 2 picks and ended up with Ray Rice and Demarco Murray with my 1st 2 picks (Jamal Charles was also there). I didn't take a QB till round 5 and it was Eli Manning.
In another one I took Ray Rice with the 1st round pick and then Charles with my 2nd round pick. Then I picked up Vick in round 6 and Roethisberger in like round 10 cause I wanted a good backup to vick. In both mocks I had great RBs, very good WRs, and a good QB.
Then In 1 different one I went QB first (Rodgers) then I took Charles with as my RB in the 2nd round, then I was forced to pick Reggie Bush with my next pick. I had a great QB but my Rbs were meh and my WRs weren''t that special either.
I had the #2 pick in all these mock drafts
There's no question to me that RB is the way to go if you have a top 3 pick. Passing up on Foster, Ray Rice, or McCoy would be dumb.
If i have a top 3 pick I'm going RB, RB, WR, WR (or TE), then WR or QB depending on who is there.

Well there's a choice I didn't have to make, Rodgers went 2 overall in my league. The shocker was that 6 QBs went in the first. I ended up getting Rivers in the 5th.

Yes, please share. I bet you have some solid starters since you waited on QB, and still ended up with a quality QB.

Or it's a league where points are jacked up for WR's and QB's to make it more exciting.

Yeah I'm in a 10 team league where I had #2 overall, Rodgers went #1 and Cam Newton went #4.
