In roto leagues I have been in this has been a typical roster:
c 1
1b 1
2b 1
ss 1
3b 1
CI 1
MI 1
OF 5
Util 2

Pitchers 9

Bench 8

No restrictions on # of sps or rps. If someone wants all SPS they can do that.; But obviously they will come in last in saves and get a Zero in that category.

Categories
HR
RBI
Runs
SB
OBA (or batting average)
SLUG Avg

Wins
Ks
ERA
Whip
Saves
Quality Starts

In each category you will get a score from 1-12 based on where you fall. Highest total points wins so its important to draft a balanced team.

Keepers:
You lose the round to draft the following year for the rounds in which you drafted your keepers. So.. if you draft Trout in the first and keep him you dont have a ist rd pick next season.

Just my thoughts. Rabbit? James?

I'm fine with this. I've played in something similar. One thing I do want to have done is no limitations on pitching. Like you said, if you wanna punt a category to take the W category or K category? Then go for it, but it may hurt you. Everybody should be open to setting up their lineup the way they want. For keepers I'm anywhere between 3-4, but agree that each keeper should slot in where they were drafted and stay there. Hated crzy's increasing rounds the player would be slotted at. Somebody drafted Mike Trout in like the 13th round. I think it puts pressure and focus on young talent instead of just the top guys now. I mention 4 because there are so many players on a fantasy baseball team. I've always been interested in playing with hardcore players that follow MiLB as well. That last season a guy like Oscar Taveras wasn't on the roster at the time, but you know his talent, and you stash him for later. But that also factors in on your current team. It ALSO allows teams to have a identity. I hate keeper year limits. If I draft well one year and take advantage of young talent the next guy doesn't know about, I want to keep that and build a team identity. Not be forced to give it up because it "isn't fair". My 2 cents.

This isnt a H2H league so you shouldnt think about playing the other teams. This is about your team and managing it get get the most total points over the entire season.

Thinking about the punting thing. I dont think people should ever be rewarded for totally punting a category so to make it more painful I might want to go to 5 hitting and 5 pitching categories instead of 6. Dump Quality Starts and dump Slug Avg

Like I said, there is risk/reward. It depends on how you play it. If you punt saves (closers) to go for more starters it may work out one week, but what if Rosenthal closes 5 games a week. You're losing out on those points HOPING the pitcher you streamed has a decent outing. I like quality starts as a category. It keeps people up to date with matchups. Nationals playing the Phillies. You're gonna grab that WAS SP.
Ok so if you do or don't want me to join , it's cool I'm down for whatever, so I will say this if it's based on $$$ I don't care if I'm 0-200 I'll set my lineups for the integrity of the leaguw...the others, I was ravaged with injuries and it wasn't for money, so sorry about that, but again I wouldn't do that in this league
Since it's roto and not h2h we don't need even teams right?

No but I think a 12 team league is the best
People get paid to play baseball?!??!

So when are we getting this show on the road?

give me till this weekend
We still doing this thing? If so, what website we using? Has anybody ever played on mlb.com?
I think Finch should run this since he really seems to be the only one who cares. I am having a hard time for some reason getting into to it but I'm sure I will in 2-3 weeks.

I care, I just don't think I should set the rules, as a noob.

do not set the rules, I'm sort of with john on this one but I've been having a lot going on in life (nothing bad, just busy) so haven't had a chance to get on this
