crzy's Dynasty Baseball League 2013 (vrabbit is the CHAMPION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

3) ALL NON PLAYOFF TEAMS will have their rosters locked. Yahoo has added this wonderful feature that lets the commish lock non-playoff teams. So 4ML can't add Homer Bailey just to screw NinerJohn. If you're not active in the playoffs, you can't add anybody or drop anybody anymore.

lol...but I didn't try to screw him. I didn't know he wanted him. I really don't like this rule. At least give the option of picking up September call-ups to the teams that won't make the playoffs if you don't want Homer Baileys of the World to be picked up.

This is just a wrong rule for a dynasty league IMHO.

I'm going to set the keeper deadline as next friday February 15th.

My bad, I said earlier that I would rather not join again. I tried it out last season for the first time and I sucked. I tried other leagues in the past but never finished a season.I don't wanna make the league boring for you guys cause Im kinda a fantasy baseball noob lol.

But if you guys don't find a replacement (pretty sure you guys will) then I'll join again. I think I left the team with a couple extra picks in the 5th, 7th, 10th, and 12th round though. So it's not a terrible team to take over for a new owner.

I'm not sure why you're giving up after one season. You know baseball...and that's all you really need.

Unless you didn't have fun, I don't see why one poor season should deter you from not playing again.

Troy Tulowitzki (1st round)
Ryan Zimmerman (2nd round)
Pablo Sandoval (8th round)
Starlin Castro (13th round)

Not set in stone yet, but this is what I'm thinking as of now.

Agree 100%. Don't think rosters should ever be locked, but the league playoffs start in August...that's too early to lock down non playoff teams in a dynasty. Just my opinion.
I agree with Crzy. No need to make any claims that late in the year if out of playoffs. No one is going to keep a player that they get that late as a FA. Call it the Homer Bailey rule. LOL

Playoffs start September 2nd in this league. I hear your guy's argument but I still find it highly unlikely that anyone would keep a player they picked up in September....

Plus...if you know you're not a playoff team, and you want to gamble on a highly touted prospect who you could potentially keep, you can easily pick him up before September 2nd.

4ML, you picked up Shelby Miller last year before the start of the playoffs last season.

Can you find me a past example of a unknown, untouted player who would have been available on the free agent wire in any fantasy league, who then subsequently played well enough in the month of September to warrant being kept. Because that would greatly strengthen your argument.

Either way, we can put this up for a vote, because that's the fairest thing. But I'm on NinerJohn's side of the argument right now.

I signed up, sorry not really ever in the Fantasy forum. I'll make my keeper picks in the next few days.

EDIT: David Wright, Adam Jones, RA Dickey and Johnny Cueto.

Manny Machado - good chance I keep him. Picked up on August 9th only because he was promoted. If he was promoted in Sept. - that's when I would have picked him up.
Also...I'd like to point out - you could be fighting for playoff spot till the last day...and then not make it. At that point - you want to add players who could potentially be keepers. I just think there should be at least be an option to pick up any player who was called up in that particular year. At least that should be allowed in a keeper league. Someone could be called up in July - but starts to play really well in Sept. - then you will deprive the non-playoff team an opportunity to add him. I just think this it's completely unfair.

I picked up Homer Bailey (a highly sought out prospect couple of years back who hadn't reached his potential at the majors) with good intentions. He was pitching well and I figured if he went on to have a great Sept. and October - he could be of some value to me since I traded most of my assets. He almost proved me right. I'm not sure I need to present another example.

But, in case that doesn't prove my point - Manny Machado is a perfect example...and the year before Brett Lawrie who was called up in August and was my keeper the following year should be enough.

In a league where free-agent keeper costs 23rd round pick - this rule has no place IMO.

Anyone that is picked up such as Machado in August is fine. Just no one in September once the playoffs start. I dont see anything wrong with that. If you keep Homer Bailey as a keeper then I might buy it.

You're missing the point...and I don't have Bailey on my roster. Bailey almost proved me right also. Had Reds moved past the Giants and Bailey continued to pitch like a top prospect he once was - he'd be keeper worthy or at least worth considering. You don't HAVE to keep the player to prove the point.

But, I've Machado (who I added to my roster in August because that's when he was called up). Had he been called up in Sept. (like most prospects do) - that's when I would have picked him up. I added Lawrie in mid August the year before (again, that's when he was called up) and I kept him.

Had they been called up couple of weeks later (very likely, something that happens quite often) a non-playoff team would have lost an opportunity to add either of them and that makes this rule completely baseless in a keeper league.
