we talking about an 8-team league?

10 team yahoo standard league

Shady's value dropped this year, so did Murray because they're on new teams. Not quite sure if Shady is a good fit for Roman, and it's the Bills, so they could be playing from behind quite a bit - meaning a lot is passing. Shady does have value in the passing game, however. Hyde is still a FF question mark.

I was able to get Hyde in the later rounds as a RB3 or RB4 in an 8 man league. I'd expect him to be available in the 3rd or 4th round in a 12 man league, however. edit - just drafted a 12 man, Hyde went at pick 40.

yahoo starts 3 wr so rb's are always available ate. This guys info is more focused towards flex leagues

Even in Yahoo leagues, RBs get you more points than WRs. A good RB (top 15) will average you 15-20 points a game, and outside of the top 3 WRs, most WRs net you 10-15 points a game. Remember, RBs get points for both rushes and passes, and a top 15 RB is usually a featured back. WRs only get passes, and are always competing for touches. IIRC, Yahoo standard leagues score pass yardage as a point every 25 yards - making them TD dependent, while RBs get a point every 10 rushing yards.

Doesn't matter, It's relative value. WR's Get flown through in a 3 wr draft. You can get top receivers, and still get good rb's who compare close to rb1 value... Go 2 RB and your receivers would be horrendous. WR value in this league is closer to TE value in flex, when it comes to tier 1 value

No one should go into a draft with a hard list of rules.

TE value in flex is WR3. A tier 1 RB is better than a tier 1 WR. There are maybe 3 TEs in the entire NFL who put up WR numbers, and it's more akin to WR2 numbers. Theonly scoring system a WR might be equal to a tier 1 RB would be a PPR league, where possession receivers get a point for just catching the ball and have yardage scoring on top. Even then, a good RB will also get receptions every game.

Just do the math... 2 RBs at 15-20 points per game is 30-40 points.

3 WRs at 10-15 points per game is 30-45 points.

You're getting the same production from two players as you are from three. Even the top rated WR doesn't get the same points as a top 5 RB, or even top 10 RB.

This isn't a hard list of rules, as I pointed out, it's a strategy, and you need to be flexible, and I also gave a couple examples where you might want to change it up. The math backs me up. You don't agree, that's fine. Good luck in your leagues.

I meant TE value in a flex draft, not the flex position...

Maybe you should just go mock draft on Yahoo then u will figure it out.

The Top 7 RBs should be taken in the first 12 picks..

But WR need to be taken rapidly. Because those make the weekly difference in those drafts. Quality RBs will be available throughout the draft. WR will not.

Talking about Gore and Forsett, Miller in the fifth round type quality...

Cuz after you get 1 RB your looking at ur roster. 3 empty WR spots, 1empty RB, no flex... WR are flying, what are you gonna do...

In regular leagues we actually have the same strategy...

Here is my main draft, just drafted last night.

12 team

Bradford
Lacy
Forsett
Julio
D. Adams
Kelce
Hyde
GB
Ari kicker

Bridgewater
Ivory
Matt Jones
David Johnson
Fred Jackson
John Brown
D. Parker
So, what is everyone's order of RBs? I am drafting tomorrow and thinking...

Lacy
Charles
McCoy
Lynch
AP - I just don't feel good about what happened and his age...?
CJ Anderson
Leveon Bell - don't know why I am having a hard time with Bell at 1. I jsut don't see it. I draft at 6

Forsett is an RB2/borderline RB3, Gore is an RB3. You're going to be weak at RB with picks like that. You're going to get WR1 production out of your RBs, 10-15 (in yahoo scoring it looks like 9-10) points/game. That's not very good if you're playing them as RB1. I see that you've got Lacy though, so you're pretty good at RB. But there's no reason to draft highly on WRs even in three WR leagues. You can get roughly the same production playing matchups and hunting the waiver wire.

For instance, on the Yahoo site, look at Lamar Miller and Andre Johnson. They're ranked right next to each other, with Johnson being a spot higher. But look at his projected points. Nearly 3 less per game than Miller. Mark Ingram, who I'm not very high on, is one spot higher than Johnson and is projected at 1-3 points higher every game...

Look at AJ Green a solid WR1, ranked about 5-6 spots higher than a solid RB2, Forsett. Forsett projected at 1-3 points more than Green every game.

I disagree Forsett will be a high RB 2, Gore as well, just as Ahmad Bradshaw was last year while healthy...

I'm pretty sure they brought Gore in for his blocking ability. He'll be lucky to get 1000 yards this season. Bradshaw is 29 this year... Gore is 32? Forsett could be a solid RB2, but he's definitely not a solid RB1.

Forsett is a solid RB1 in PPR leagues, but only a high end 2 in standand
No 2 drafts are the same, all value is relative depending on your league. The only rule I concur with is the be flexible rule. I drafted back to back receivers with my first 2 picks and I love my team. Starting your 10 team ppr league with Antonio and Julio doesn't suck.

Amen to that
I'm in 6 leagues, going to playoffs in 5 of them. I have a two game lead over the next closest person in basically all the leagues, winning games with 120+ points every week. I'm ranging from first overall to fourth overall in all leagues. The only one I'm not going into the playoffs in is the league I didn't get to use my heavy RB strategy on because of my draft position and how the others in the league drafted. I somehow managed to be in the division with 11 and 10 win teams while the other division is making the playoffs with 6 wins (which I have more than... I'm tied for 4th overall in that league). League types range from 8 man, 10 man, 12 man, both auction and snake drafts.

Made it to the playoffs (3rd) and went pretty close to your tips on the first page... by the end of my draft , I had like 5 RB and 4 WR. Turned out to be good too since McCoy has been hurt the first part of the season and Charles went out before he was lighting the league on fire....

mistakes
-QB - got a little antsy and took brees in the 5th. Should have gotten different QB
-May want to go RB, then WR in my league since we have 5 point bonuses for 100 yards, and 3 point bonuses for 150 yards. But I guess this depends on my draft position
-TE - should have waited longer as I picked up Delanie Walker off the waiver wire. Can't remember who I drafted

Oh well, it's funny, in our league, the top 4 teams are like 200 points over the rest of the league, mostly due to WRs. If I had a more consistent QB and WRs, I would have easily been first place. Charles, McCoy and Gurley have pretty much carried me through the season.
Finished first overall drafting wr in the first 2 rounds

Yea, I have Brees in one of my leagues. Kind of a disappointment this year. And basically all my TEs I ended up grabbing off the waiver wire. There were definitely a few surprises on the WR side. Allen Robinson from JAX being #5, or both NYJ WRs being top 10? I don't think anyone could have predicted that. And there were a lot of RB injuries this year which skewed both the RB and WR numbers.
