Webzone Meh FFL Season 8 - Defending Champ Rubber

If you pick players where they're supposed to pick, and score a couple in later rounds than projected, you'll get a good grade. And then it looks at silly s**t like bye weeks that never have an impact.

I also wanted Rico. Spears, Rice, Love, Mostert, Warren, Brian Thomas Jr, Chase Brown, Tua as my backup, and Marshawn Lloyd. Only one lined up for me. I would have had to reach like crazy. Basically a list of guys that I thought would go later and would have really good years.

boise always gets a good grade and always has a good team because dude sticks to the rankings and when he reaches, it's for a top player. I can almost tell you who Boise will pick prior to him doing it and that's a complement.

I'm mostly interested in peoples lists of players they were targeting and if it did or did not work out.
Based off of my countless mocks I formulated an 8 round draft board and got 6 of my 8.

Rounds 1-5 were exact. (Though round 4 i was fi e with Hurts, Mahomesor Lamar) . In the 6th I had Rice pegged he went 1 spot before me so I took Cooper. 7th I had Javonte pegged. Mid draft pivoted to Pollard ended up with Moss. 8th I had Courtland Sutton planned and got him.

I agree with Steve. I didn't stick to yahoo's rankings and my grade shows.

In the end I ended up with 2023's #2 QB, #2 & 3 RB, #6 WR #2 & 4 TE. None of their situations got worse. Obviously, there is no guarantee of repeat performance but I nailed my strategy. Remains to be seen how good the strategy was but I have zero regrets.

Yahoo grades are dumb. It penalizes you for disagreeing with their rankings or having to take someone a bit high because of a run on a position. They downgraded me for taking Ferguson too high. Nevermind that he was the last good one left. I also think giving A+ grades and D- grades are dumb too. There isnt that much difference between the best and worst teams.

Agreed
I agree. I think this year especially. It will be a tough year. I don't see any team being an easy win against.
I think Boise has the strongest team, but I dont see any run away favorites or losers...pretty balanced.

I still think Krizays process was bad (the trade), but his results worked out fine I think. Gore drafts with conviction for his guys, and that helped Krizay, on paper.

Yahoo grades are dumb. Just draft slot vs their rankings. No consideration for team composition, etc.

Who ever drafts Hockenson - assuming they don't reach - should absolutely punt on either Kicker or defense. Put him in IR and pick someone up. Now if you reached on Hockenson, it's less viable. But if Hock falls to you because people are scared on injury, it's the right move.
My first 6 rounds went perfectly for how I projected, the only players I hadn't planned for were La Porta and Dell, and that's just because they fell further than I thought, I was going to pick Andrews at 4.02 and Reed at 6.02 ended up still getting Reed later.

Issues came up with my RB2's getting snapped up, I was praying for Mostert, but thought Javontae or Najee would fall to end of the 7th. When none of them did I felt I had to reach for Brian Robinson (who I had seen in the 9th). Then missed out on other RB's I wanted later such as Dowdle, Brookes and Allgier.

Overall I'm happy with my team. I know I've taken big gambles with the rookie's. As many others I had an elite 8. I figured that without one of those I had to project some people who could possibly reach those heights and decided to go with the rookie's and Gibbs.

Missed on my Def, had Texans tabbed as a sleeper and decided to punt Kicker preferring Shaheed just in case he's the specialist over route runner for Kubiak, could lead to some huge splash plays.

Really looking forward to the season, I've made some poor mid season adjustments before that cost me playoffs that I hope not to repeat.
I agree putting Hock on IR and then grabbing a K works. I am just not a fan of having the 12th best of any position like that. But mid season if you grab a kicker off waivers and Hock is Hock again, bonus.

The kicker will just be the 12th kicker added to a team not necessarily the 12th best. Last year's 2nd, 6th, 7th, 8th & 11th highest scoring kickers are still available.

The 3 highest scoring fantasy kickers last year were
  1. Brandon Aubrey 169
  2. Justin Tucker 152
  3. Jake Elliott 150

The 2 highest scores in terms of total points were
  1. Brandon Aubrey
  2. Justin Tucker

Went by FPG since not all play 17.
But using your total points #3-5 are still available

I think it helps debunk the argument of it's all/ majority luck .

For this time period , waiver wire makes up the most rostered players for champions .

there is luck involved for sure , but I wouldn't say it majority luck depending on how you look
at those stats .
Injuries probably led to the waiver claim
