Randy Moss thread

I don't think this is a good idea. Would have rather had T.O. At least he won't quit on us. The other thing is ya'll yapping about cutting him
if he becomes a problem. Susweel is right! Who the hell they gonna bring in when he has a meltdown?! When we cut Edwards, we had NOBODY
to take his place. We were trawling around the arena league looking for receivers when that happened. When you run out of receivers
you turn to Kyle Williams, remember him? I know we'll sign other players but man - as Han Solo once said, "I gotta bad feeling about this!"

Realistically

1. Crabtree
2. Morgan
3. Moss
4. Kyle Williams
5. rookie
6. rookie

Isn't a bad receiving corps at all, especially as guys like Crabtree, Morgan and Williams would have a full offseason. Get some rookies to develop and this team should show nice improvement, especially with Moss creating mismatches and not being depended on to be the #1 or even #2 guy.

I think 2 rookies will make the team, though I'm not too sure if we keep 6 WRs on the team. I think it'll be Crabtree, Moss, Williams, Early Round Rookie, Late Round Rookie or FA pickup. Depending on WHO we pick up in Free Agency, the late round rookie makes the team. Baalke has already shown that he will not overspend, so unless a good WR available in Free Agency signs cheap, we'll probably have two rookies on the roster. :D

Which is why they will also address the position via the draft...and possibly one another mid-tier free agent who will be a hell of a lot better than Swain and the practice squad All-Stars.

No really, I have a bad ............. never mind

Rest assure, Moss isn't going to be our only addition. I don't think Baalke and Co. will let it get that bad again. Expect 2 rookie WRs and 1 or 2 more free agent WRs to compete in camp next year.

This signing changes our focus in FA in favor of Carlos Rogers. The need to secure a WR is at least diminshed. I wouldn't be surprised if they sign Ginn or Morgan, but other than that, I think the focus has to go back to the CB position. And if Rogers is unattainable, we look to Chris Carr, Cortland Finnegan, or Tracy Porter.

Then probably early in the draft for the other wideout spot.

With a possible offseason:

Smith (FA),
Rogers (FA),
Moss (signed),
Hill (draft),
Snyder (FA)

I can hope!

I hope Hill falls to 30...

Also, Baalke is not afraid to trade up. If he's there floating around the early 20's, making it past the Bears at 19, we might make a move for him, or possibly Wright or another WR. Depends on who Baalke is eying... but I'm liking Hill a lot

I love the deal, bring back Josh Morgan, add a WR in round 1 or 2. Quite a lot of talent added compared to the last time we played, with guys like Swain and Hastings out there.

Hello, Randy Moss.

I hate to say it, but I could really see a guy like Kaep utilizing Moss's talent to the max. Smith, I'm not sure.

Excellent plan. So we move Kyle Williams into the starting lineup for KR / PR. He's so good at that. Especially under playoff pressure. We are set with him no doubt....
I'm going out on a limb here and saying that anyone who doesn't like the addition of Moss are Alex Smith excuse makers who will continue to make excuses for him if Moss doesn't succeed out here.

It's obvious I dont like Alex, but I love the addition of Moss and hope Alex and him both have huge seasons.
Watch Owens go to New Orleans now.

Nice signing. I thinks he's got a good two years left.
Im sooo worried about this signing. We were two competant WR's away from the superbowl last season. If Moss is expected to be a main focus of the offense and fizzles out that leaves us where we were last season...And again, i could care less what we paid him. My concern is how much stock are Baalke and harbaugh putting into Moss...

How are guys planning on getting Hill at #30 when the Bears love him at #19?

I think Williams will have quite a productive year. I'm exciting to see him in the slot and having Crabtree and Moss on the outsides. Williams is a hell of a slot receiver, and he can run those fly sweeps as well as Ginn could.

Like Phoenix said, Williams is here to stay. Hate him all you want, he's a good part of this offense.

Agreed, Williams is a solid slot receiver just keep his ass away from returning kicks.

Exactly, if I see him back there fielding punts next season, I'm gonna be pissed. It'll remind me of Arnaz Battle again. With Ginn (probably) gone, I have no idea who'll be our returner for next year. I really want Ginn to stay, I don't remember not being nervous on punt returns until Ginn came. I loved the securty, and awesome punt return average, Ginn gave us.

All in all, keep Williams on the offensive side of the ball... and off Special Teams altogether.

Ok maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself. But with Crab and Moss along with the very real possibility that they may still sign Ginn and/or Morgan or some other WR's off the FA line, and draft a WR in the 1st or 2nd round, all that IMO pushes Kyle Williams out. Especially if Ginn returns, he's gone for sure and if they draft a WR or RB with legitimate return skills, that puts another nail in him too.
