I take offense to this comment, as a 20 yr veteran of the LAPD - as well as the son of a former LAPD Captain. I can't argue with you that the Department has had it's issues with some of it's officers over the years. Most if not all PD's in large cities have experienced this problem (San Diego is even worse!). Like yourself, I'm a die-hard Niners fan and am troubled by what has transpired with some of our players over the past few years. I don't know all the details of what went down at LAX, and maybe it isn't as dire as some are making it out to be; but Aldon is a powder-keg right now, and I would wager that once all information is gathered and digested, Goodell may likely make him another example and slap him with a severe suspension (2014) and/or fine. Regardless, it's been a rough post-season for 49er fans.Originally posted by kronik:Originally posted by 49er_Rider:LA Airport police detained 49ers LB Aldon Smith after he indicated he possessed a bomb, per public LA policeinformation officer Karla Ortiz.
This is not a crime. Another reason I have skepticism is this is the LAPD we are talking about here. That force is full or arrogant egotistical corrupt people. The history of the LAPD is a joke.
With that being said, Aldon needs to learn to control his temper. A random screening shouldn't have been escalated to this little mess.

Says he wasn't intoxicated though. Now since he has had issues with drinking I would assume part of his rehab would be to not have a drink at all. Is that realistic? I don't know. Is the man no longer allowed to have a drink?
That actually could be the case. My girlfriends neighbor has had 2 DUI's and he's not allowed to be in possession of alcohol or could be arrested.
He can have all the drinks he wants.....when his career is done and his actions don't effect so many people.

This is normal in some situations. And random piss tests are common as well.

No proof he was intoxicated. Keep in mind they let him through AFTER he made the "bomb" statement. So it's possible they suspected he was drunk, let him through anyways, then changed their mind and tracked him down at the gate.
Substitute "changed their minds" with "called the cops".

All things considered, I don't see the Niners making it the Super Bowl this year unless the FO and coaching staff seriously puts the fear of God into the players. They are clearly not focused, and all these distractions aren't going to just go away once training camp starts. After watching dynasty week one thing was pretty common with the championship teams, and that was the focus going into the season. Hard to be focused when your teammates can't stay out of trouble and the headlines. .

I really hope so. I'm pulling for him. I'm concerned what the ramifications will be if this was yet another alcohol-induced incident. If I remember correctly, the team has been very supportive, but made it clear to him they would be strict going forward if he continued to abuse alcohol.
I am too, but it comes to a point where the Individual has to want it for himself.

So he just made a dumb joke. If that's all this is about I'd just sit this one out and let the legal system run it's course. Very dumb on his behalf but at some point you'd expect officials to let the person know the severity of that dumb *** remark instead of making a criminal matter out of it.

Yes, but couldn't they keep him at security until cops arrived? Why did they let him through in the first place?

Great now our pass rush is going to suck, which means our secondary might suck. Going to lose the best pass rusher in the game because he's too much of an idiot to stay out of trouble.
DONT hit the panic button just yet , Not true Lemonier started to come around through the season he has a good chance to fill the void if we do cut ties with this knucklehead
We would be screwed. Corey ain't Aldon.
Went 5-0 without him, just saying

Look at who we played during that time. By far the easiest 5 game stretch of the season. Timing was lucky.

Of course the worst is behind him.... After being given a second chance after gun and assault charges, then drunken driving charges, missed playing time and on the current watchful eye of the league, this genius shows his gratitude and thankfulness by acting a fool after apparently drinking and claiming to have a bomb in an international airport just a few hours ago.....
Lol, yeah, he's clearly on the right track now.....

Dude is a f-n idiot who doesn't even understand how great he could become, or maybe doesn't even care....

TSA is not armed or trained for confrontation, and if they have any inkling someone might be dangerous, they back off and call the police.

Maybe not to alarm anybody. Let him walk and get real security on the way quietly?
