Jimmy Garoppolo-QB-EIU

What loaded team did JG have? He didn't have Gronk and the only pro-bowlers on NE this yr is Brady, Hightower, McCourty and some ST guy.

We got a ton of money and if there's one position I'm cool with overspending on it's QB...we could always FA tag him in 2018 and 2019 if we wanted to.

This. I think whether Kelly comes back or they get a new HC, Garoppolo offers the best chance for an instant impact from the QB spot. I like Trubisky a lot but with his mechanics, he's very raw and will need time to develop, Watson and Kizer also shouldn't be out there as starters from Day 1. With Garoppolo I have no qualms about him starting from the very first game onwards.

There's not very many examples of this. Schaub, Kolb. You'd be shocked to know that teams with franchise qb's don't routinely draft high picked qb's. Jimmy hasn't made it passed 3 games so the injury problems are a fair discussion.

Edelman, Bennett, Amendola. New England has been a top 5 passing attack for how long? Hey we have the $ let's blow it on a qb who cares if he pans out. There's no magic eraser on this. If you miss on Jimmy you're stuck with him. The same goes for the draft but I like my chances more with the top pick.

With Garoppolo if you're not completely sold on him you can franchise him and see what he costs you for a second season but just based on his skills, I do believe he can do very well, also don't buy that he's injury-prone based on a limited sample, I'm not basing my evaluation of his play on a limited sample but based on what I saw from him coming out of college and the areas that he excelled in.

It's not going to happen we're going to sign him when he's cheaper just like we did with Kap.
He'll get a much safer contract for the organization that way and most likely 3 years to prove himself. If you wait you pay Kirk Cousins 20 mil. He's a good qb but 9-7 good. It is smarter to lock them up earlier.

I think he can be even better than that if you put him in the right type of offense. If the 49ers did dump Kelly and hire someone like Kyle Shanahan, I think Garoppolo could absolutely kill it in that offense.

It also helps having Julio Jones. They might want to get to work on that.

If we could land Jeffrey I'd feel a lot better about Grappolo. You trade for him you're expecting faster results.

Your right there's not a ton to go off of...that's why comparing backup 7th rd picks and UDFA qbs to a 2nd rd guy shouldn't be done...it's not apples to apples.

Like I said SF would have him for a yr on the cheap then can FA tag him...if you can't make a fair assessment of him in two yrs as the start move on. I'm fine with drafting a qb but getting Jimmy is just another option and I like the fact he's had three yrs to develop vs being a geeeb horn rookie....all options need to be looked at.

Please don't throw out Edelman & Amendola as some justification as having studs lol...they've had top passing teams because of Brady not their WRs.

As far as labeling him injury prone stop...dude was a 4yr starter and one of his positives coming into the draft was that he was durable. Qbs get hit, especially ones that are starting there 3rd game ever.

Totally agree! Getting Jimmy g and Kyle would give the fan base somethigvfi be excited about for once...we'd still have the 2nd overall pick and could pray for Myles to drop, if not then trade down and get some weapons for the qb. Corey Davis and JG in a shanny offense

Kyle has gotten the most out of his WRs in all the offenses he's been in...Texans, Washington, Cleveland, Atlanta...that passing game didn't suffer with Julio out the past couple weeks, my fantasy team did though

FYI we trade for Jimmy g we got a top 1st rd pick to play with...can get him some young cheap weapons
Whether it's Garappolo or another QB, the BL is the Niners need stability at that position. Even if they do make a deal for Jimmy, they still need to draft a QB fairly high and develop him. It's been far too long since they did that and it shows.

I'm not against Shanny. That's a different discussion but it's not happening w/o better receivers. See Chip.

Garrett 1st (no complaints), 2nd rounder would be traded, and the odds of hitting one in the 3rd is pretty unspectacular. I think we should be calling Jeffrey because trying to trade up into the early 2nd for Davis may cost a future 1st which just isn't worth it.

OR we miss out on Myles which most likely happens and we can trade down get one of the top WRs.. take some of those other draft picks (most likely that 2nd we recouped in a trade down) and get a pass rusher.

We have 10 picks right now, we don't need them all moved around to get impact guys...

I would be happy with:

1st-trade down (if we get qb) get mike Williams/Corey Davis
2nd- trade for JG
Take some of our draft picks and the ones we got in a trade down and move around for a pass rusher.

Throw in a new HC and $100 million in cap space things can be done to make this team viable for the future.

I don't see Clv taking Garrett and just letting whatever qb falls be their pick. If they let us have Garrapollo that means they pretty much have to go qb at 1. Nobody should think Peyton Manning, Ryan Leaf we're good either way. Clv has the option of picking their guy that's not one you want to give up.

But I think most would be happy with Garrett, Garrapolo.

All the more upside to getting Garoppolo if it forces the Browns to go QB and leaves Garrett to the 49ers.
