How are they gonna keep him if Brady doesnt slow down?
Garoppolo doesnt wanna wait 5 years to start

How many games has the average QB coming out of the draft started in the NFL?
I think the interest in Garoppolo is that he is a pretty talented QB, he's done nothing to invalidate the many positive things people said about him prior to the draft and has the benefit of being ready to start from Day 1.

Yeah, no.
I could see a team that was stacked at all other positions and ready to win now; i.e. three year window, trade a late first for him. Like, ahem, the 2012 49ers?
bradford got a 1st and a 4th lol

49ers wouldn't have traded Montana if he was healthy and playing some of his best football like Brady is now.
Packers traded Favre because they got tired of his retirement BS
Colts released Manning because there were questions about if he'd ever play at the same level again after his neck injury
Totally different situations.
Pats are vicious and Father Time gets to everyone at some point but they cannot bench Brady. There is a reason they drafted Brisett and they will expect him to be the heir to Brady.

That's fair. So you think under different circumstances, Young, Rodgers, and Luck would have been traded, or do their teams teams do what ever it takes to keep them both until the circumstances are right to get rid of the 40 year old HOFamer?

Different situations imo.
Luck was drafted after Manning was already hurt but he was a rare type of prospect. You have to draft him if you don't have a proven stud and Manning was old and had injury concerns then.
Favre was old and threatening retirement every offseason.
Young yes. I think if Joe was healthy and playing as well as he used to/the way Brady is playing we'd trade Young.
Pats should try to win as many as they can now. Garopplo may look awesome in practice and be a stud in the film room, etc but he's not Tom Brady and he hasn't proven anything in the playoffs the way Tom has.
Smart move is to trade him to improve the team for Tom and hope Jacoby can be your QB of the future.

I imagine the Pats being the Pats would end up drafting yet another quarterback as well if they traded Garoppolo. Developing both that prospect and Brisett to eventually replace Brady.

Yeah if the different circumstances included their teams not thinking they were a franchise QB.
You don't ever trade a young franchise QB to keep a 40 year old QB. It's more likely that under different circumstances (if the 49ers and Packers weren't contenders), Montana and Favre would have been traded even earlier. If the Patriots were losing games while Tom Brady was playing this well and decided they need to rebuild, they could try to offload Brady for whatever they could get (probably not a first round pick).
The Patriots are a Super Bowl contender now, so it makes sense to keep Tom Brady (he's worth more to them than anyone else). If they think Garapollo is a surefire franchise QB, they'd be getting pennies on the dollar if they try trading him.
If they think Garapollo is a future franchise QB, they keep both for now and move on from Brady as soon as possible.
If they don't, they trade Garapollo for a 2nd round pick and start looking for a franchise QB if it's not Brissett.
If they think he may be a franchise QB, then they may agree to trade him if the price is right depending on how long they expect Brady to last and their projections for Garapollo.

How many situations have had a Tom Brady?
He's playing some of his best football. How do you trade a guy who has given you so much at the top of his game? Do you pay a backup and still unproven QB starter money because you're waiting for Brady to hit the wall when you can get picks and salary cap space to improve the team and win more rings while Brady is still playing?
The idea that they would trade Brady is total horse chit. They're not doing it. The guy is the best ever. Montana only got traded because he couldn't stay healthy. If he didn't have injury issues we never would've shipped him away.
The Pats probably want to keep Jimmy but do you keep him around just in case and avoid getting all this draft compensation to win more SBs? They're not easy to win. Brady knows how to win..get him the best team you can get him and hope he'll keep surprising people by playing great at his age.
Like I said before, Garoppolo can be amazing in practice and around the coaches but he's never played in the playoffs or the SB. He's still an unknown. Can't trade Brady and give the team to Garoppolo without losing the team and fan base.

I don't expect the Patriots to trade Brady, but if their team was garbage around him and they had a young franchise QB on the roster, I could see them pulling off a trade. As soon as possible probably isn't the right phrase, but if the Patriots love Garapollo, I think they'll try to convince Brady to retire or consider trading him to another team. If Garapollo is better than Brady in 2017, does Brady sit on the bench or do the Patriots try to get something in return for him?
