Stop with that comparison please man...we've been down this road a million times. One was a backup in college and a 7th rd pick the other was a 2nd rd pick and 4 yr starter. The only thing the same is they played for NE.

The fact that NE was able to take 7th rd college back and make a him a starter and quality backup in the league for yrs proves that they can develop qbs.

No way I'd trade Myles Garrett for this scrub.

We're getting Myles Garrett

Garoppolo draft #62

And Blaine Gabbert was a top 10 pick. The only thing that matters is Cassel threw 21 TDs & 3,600 yards with NE in 2011 and they won 11 games. Then only threw 20+ TDs in a season one more time.

All that tells me is that NE can even develop a college backup and 7th rd pick into a quality backup that has had a long career in the NFL....also helps throwing the ball to Randy moss and Wes Welker.

Who did Jimmy G have catching the ball? Only one player that had 1 1,000 yard season in Edelman

Trade Torrey for him. Sign Glennon to back him up. Draft the best WR in draft with our pick or draft best pass rusher and sign the best available WR and TE in free agency.

$13 mil a year backup QB...oh lawd.

Lol Glennon wouldnt be making 13 mil. Kaep's walking

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports impending free agent Mike Glennon "could fetch" $13-15 million per year on his next contract.

Swapping 1st round picks with the Patriots for Garoppolo would be a really stupid decision.

There are so many ways we can get a competent QB and/or a highly rated rookie QB without giving up our top 2 overall pick.

This roster needs playmakers. Garoppolo is not worth moving out of the top 2. Not with the $20M+/year deal we will have to sign him to.

OMG
I haven't posted on here in a while, but I'm telling you... niners NEED to trade for Garoppolo. This guy has that x-factor competitive confidence I see in Rogers and Brady.

He's got great pocket presense, goes through all his reads, can scramble (like rogers), and has a strong arm and accuracy. He's really got it all. The only thing he doesn't have is a body of work on the NFL. But he destroyed in college and the few games in the NFL he was able to play in. He's got more UPSIDE than any QB this year.

Check this footage out below and tell me I'm wrong.

In a nutshell: If organizations that need a quarterback have passed on you twice, chances are you aren't a very good one.

That's true in regard to a QB's value as a prospect. But that doesn't hold true after 3+ years of NFL development. It's possible an average prospect turned good. Happens all the time at every position.

I'm not saying what Garoppolo is one way or the other. Just saying that the line of logic doesn't apply several years after the draft.

I was down with the 49ers drafting Garoppolo in 2014, would be perfectly happy to see them trade for him as long as the compensation was "reasonable" for a guy with limited starts who will be due a BIG new contract soon.
