He sounds terrible. Jimmy G draft profile
Has a very quick trigger and good wrist snap that translates to a smooth throwing motion and clean, compact delivery (no windup). Lightning release quickness. Urgent decision maker. Sells play-action. Athletic enough to slide in the pocket and buy time with his feet while keeping his eyes downfield. Good anticipation -- throws his receivers open. Can change ball speeds and drop it in a bucket. Does not take unnecessary sacks and will dump the ball. Will deliver the ball looking down the barrel of a gun. Tough-minded and poised in the pocket -- can withstand a hit and pop back up. Highly competitive. Smart, respected, vocal team leader. Very durable, experienced, four-year starter. Good football intelligence.

People seem to forget that Brett Favre, Matt Hasslebeck, and Kurt Warner were all back up QB's at one point. Just because they are back ups doesnt mean they will necessarily suck.

Seen by many around the league as a coach in the making, McCown swatted down the idea that Garoppolo is simply the latest Brady understudy to be overvalued by teams desperate for a consistent starter. He sees no comparison with Matt Cassel, who netted a second-round pick from the Chiefs in 2009.
"When you turn on the tape, one has an elite skill set and one doesn't," McCown said. "I like Matt and he's a pro quarterback, but Jimmy has a chance to be elite."
All these people saying Jimmy Garopollo is good clearly don't know as much as someone posting on a forum.
lmao. You can't bring anyone else into a conversation about jimmy g. He is not anyone.else. He has a different brain, a different arm, a different body. Jimmy G was a great college player. Broke records, broke tony romo's records. the only reason he was a second rounder was because of a small school.
PS. All these people who dont think SCRUBisky has the biggest bust potential in this draft don't know anything either.
I agree with the Bold. I really would prefer to not draft him, but if the staff wants him, I'm for it. They know more than me.
I just think he will be a bust and that there are better options like Jimmy G, Watson, McCarron. I like all of these guys more. I think at the 2 spot we can get a much better player than Trubisky.

There's a lot of Jimmy G. Fans here, to an extent they already labeled Mitch a bust!! LOL!
OK, let's make a bet - I will stop posting to this forum (forever) as soon as Shanahan proclaims Jimmy G is the best option + NO Mitch T. to the 49ers.
Garopolo may be good but he is very fragile!! Of course the Pats will not tell you that but it is the reason why they want to trade him, instead of keeping him as insurance for Brady injury! Two games and he was done - LOL!

Simple, because they know he's as good gone no later than 2018. They also now have the ability to trade Jimmy and keep Brissett as the backup.

Why is he fragile? Because he got his shoulder driven into the ground by a 300lb man?

he sprained his ac joint. which if he didnt sling it up quick and do therapy, he would have had a lump form on his throwing shoulder lol. Ps his draft profiles always say very durable. He got hit hard and most qb's would have been injured after that. Your a good poster and im as much or more for jimmy g fan than anyone. I only say hes has the biggest potential to be a bust. Which is true. Sam please give me one reason besides money, or fragile (because hes not) Trubs is worth more than a 2 than jimmy.

Most of the guys before Garoppolo were late round picks or even undrafted players. Mallett sucked in New England, so clearly the system wasn't doing him any favors.
Garoppolo is the highest draft choice that Belichick has ever made on any quarterback. He came out of college as a ridiculously successful quarterback, racked up all kinds of records and coming out of a smaller school, he had to really impress even more than others. Looking at him in terms of his skillset he has much of what you want in a WCO QB. Accuracy, super quick release, decisiveness, solid footwork and mobility.
I just don't see why people try to lump him in with obviously inferior talents because they happened to play on the same team. Garoppolo is a far better QB prospect than guys like Cassell, O'Connell and all the rest were which is why I think its such a ridiculous argument to try and slight him by making faulty comparisons that don't fit.
Im not really trying to compare the QB's in that post.
I'm more trying to show the last 3 "potential starting" Qb's behind Brady haven't worked out.
All i'm getting at is BB is undoubtedly the best head coach in the NFL right now, with Tom Brady clearly being the best QB and maybe the best of all time. It is literally the most IDEAL situation I CAN EVER RECALL for a backup QB to go into and perform. You've got an amazing scheme with great weapons, and a guy who knows how to set up an offense for his QB.
When Garp went in (mostly citing the Miami game here), we saw a slimmed down version of what Brady runs. Garp threw a lot of short quick slants, and tons of screens to RBs and slot guys. I'm not impressed with his numbers from that game, I'd give major credit to the play calling.
If anyone honestly thinks on this board, that Garp can come in and turn our offense around RIGHT NOW, then they are delusional. Comparing NE's offense to ours is a night and day difference. I would rather take a rookie QB who deserves to be picked 2nd overall (not 2nd round) and develop him, not a 26 year old QB who has played 1 full NFL game in his career.

I don't think anyone is saying he's bad because he is a backup

uh...."Fragile" might be a bit of an overstatement. Dude sprained his shoulder once from a guy running full speed at him and nailing him while he was throwing. I'm far calling Jimmy G the next savior of this team but that is definitely not fragile.
By that definition, any player that gets hurt is fragile, this just happened to occur in his 2nd game--remember he played how many preseason games and practices and not randomly tear an ACL on the turf or something that would actually indicate bad genes/luck or whatever.

are those 3 qb's JIMMY G? then it does not apply. They all have different traits. and they are all different people. I guess all the traits he had in college mean nothing. Please name one qb that is worth a 2? Because I can't say trubisky has enough experience or tape to show hell even be close to JImmy. But know it will take a second to learn the offense. Bonus is he wont have to catch up to nfl speed. and he was already groomd, we will not have as good of a grooming situation for mitch as jimmy had

Doesn't there have to be more than one injury to say someone if fragile / injury prone?
