That #2 pick can easily become another 2nd round pick and an additional 1st next year with a very small trade down. It's just too valuable for such a high risk move. Would much rather use it on a rookie QB.

Tell Kyle it's crazy. Because according to him if you like the quarterback you go get him it doesn't matter the cost

Link?
Because I will gladly disagree with him there.

First, he never said that. Second, if he did -- I would happily disagree with him. Third, there are a lot of QBs to "like" with the #2 overall pick. I'm gonna to need to absolutely convinced Garoppolo is the next elite QB for the #2 overall pick and massive contract he'll command.
Online reports are saying it may be similar to Alex Smith type of deal...pats interested in adding multiple young players vs just a first rounder

Maybe they'll take our first rounder for next year and this years 3rd

I'd rather do a second rounder this year and next year with additional picks to appease them.

I just want to avoid having to give up any 1st rounders. I think the price will go down the closer we get to the draft .
I'm not for the trade because Garrett could be there but the #2 pick is only worth the selection you make with it. If we draft Mitch at 2 and he busts while Jimmy G becomes Hasslebeck yeah that trade doesn't look so bad does it. Yeah there could be a trade but you're more likely to have to pick.

If we 100% knew there's no chance Clv passes on Garrett and it comes down to Mitch or Jimmy I'm cool with whatever Shanny does.

The Patriots will be screwed if they wait that long. They'll need to trade him early into the FA period while teams still can manage his impending cap number.

Moreover, a team in the top 10 may convince themselves that a rookie QB is the best way to go and sign a veteran insurance policy QB.

In summary, the Patriots lose leverage every day of FA that Garoppolo isn't traded. Teams will exit the sweepstakes for different reasons through March. Less bidders means less return for the Pats.

If Shanny is convinced that trading for Jimmy is the right move then I'm on board.

We have multiple years to build this team, lets get our QB first.
I'd give our second round pick, and our fifth round this year, and a conditional pick next year, say another second or another fifth depending on his performance.

This feels like the fair value to me.

This. Sounds like a plan.

I like this. Most important to me however it it, either John/Kyle, the bears, or the jets get this done. As soon as possible. Once Jimmy g is off the market, it forces the browns to take Mitch or Watson #1. That gives us myles.

Rebuild is more than just a qb. Let Kyle either build up Jimmy or take whomever he wants in the 2nd.

It doesn't force them to do anything. There's 4 possible 1st round picks and they got 2 1st rounders as well as 2 2nds. They could prefer Kizer, Mahones, they could trade up or they could just pass on qb and sign CK, Cutler.
