DB Dontae Johnson North Carolina State

I saw Chris Davis get burned a few times by Benjamin, maybe they rotated the DB's to try to see which one matched up better vs Kelvin. None worked though.

Gotta give props to KB. He moved the chains on us. But you take out the helmet catch and he only has like 80ish yards. Let's not act like the dude went off for 180'yards.
Does this guy have down syndrome or something? Dude never breaks through no matter who the coaching staff is.

–Keith Reaser, not Dontae Johnson, got the majority of time with the first-team defense. Ahkello Witherspoon worked with the second team.
Keith could be a gun.

That's coming from Grant.

another beat writer said that Johnson was starting opposite of Robinson.

When Johnson has been on the field, in regular season games, he's done well the majority of the time.

I tend to agree and I've hoped he'd be the starting CB for 2, going on 3 years now, but there is clearly something that multiple coaching staffs have seen that we are not.

Barrows said it was DJ and RR that were the starting corners today, with Williams getting most of the nickel reps. I hope Johnson has a breakout year so we can continue to develop Witherspoon. It'd be nice to have three good lengthy corners that we can rotate in and out

Yeah, this is what I meant...for whatever reason, he hasn't been given a starting role to date. This will certainly be his best shot esp. b/c of the scheme. I really like him...he makes plays. I hope this is the year and like the poster said above, it would give Witherspoon the 18 months to grow and develop like his HC noted.

Good news. I too hope he earns the spot. That would be ideal for the team and Witherpoon's development.
All these guys gonna be good.

If what he said happens I think Its about time DJ gets a real chance to show what he can do, obviously I'm not in the building but from the outside looking in it felt like the last 2 yrs he wasn't given an opportunity and the last 2 coaching staffs didn't like something about him, his rookie year when Harbaugh was coach he showed promise and that was exciting, would be great if he becomes the starter opposite RR and Witherspoon isn't thrown into the fire so soon..3 6 ft plus young fast corners along with Redmond and Williams fighting for the slot position sounds nice, I'm not so high on Reaser and think he gets cut..tho I hope I'm wrong and he proves me wrong and balls out..
DJ gonna sin the wheel as we rap our way to defensive glory.

he has all the tools. I don't knwo what happened.

Johnson is poised to have a great year. I Think this system will be a great for him, and he has a couple years under his belt. The coaches will give him a fair shot to start
