Originally posted by OnTheClock:Awful game for him. To be fair to him, he hasn't been this bad all year, but he was going up against a Top 3 to Top 5 NFL receiver and was clearly the inferior player. Then again, Hopkins has done that to a lot of guys this year.
Johnson is one of those guys who's "not quite a #2 CB" but talented enough to keep around. He's just not much of a playmaker. I expect they look to replace him in the off-season.
Hopkins TD shoulda never occurred cause when he had possession of ball on 3rd down he was actually a half a yard short. Then the penalty on DJ was BS.
Ill give him another 3 games but right now i still wanna re-sign as first outside CB off the bench, spoon goes to #2 and we sign Trumaine/Butler/Fuller/Breeland.

Should never be more than a #4 or #5 DB on a team...still has a place as a backup.

Yup. NFL quality player, but as depth.

On an average team he's a 2-3 guy on a good team he's a 3-4 guy. He's going to continue getting owned when he goes against top tier talent but against an average nfl receiver he is adequate.

yeah i would be down to resign him at the vet minimum and make him depth and a ST player. Nothing more. Dude almost lost us the game. That has to be one of the worst games ive ever seen a CB have.

DJ hasn't been good all season...he was exposed big-time by Hopkins. I don't know why anyone would want him on the roster in 2018. He has size, but when you can't cover, it's a moot point. Lynch can sign a good CB in FA and draft one. He has to get someone worthy of playing alongside Witherspoon. I'd rather keep Mabin than DJ.

He better not, he's been a huge reason for allowing drives to continue, he's being picked on every week

This is why the 49ers ABSOLUTELY MUST sign Trumaine Johnson.

He is in over his head...career backup is his role. Nickel or dime packages only. I doubt he will be back next year.
