Greg Hardy

Every team in our division is improving, Cards are looking to get AP. Seattle has just traded for Jimmy Graham, Rams have just put together a Defensive Line that can possibly be better than what Seattle has now as well as getting Foles. 49ers have lost Willis, Cowboy possible to retire, Bowman coming back from injure, and suspect corners, add along Darnell Dockett who has just signed but is returning from an ACL injure.. Baalke has to make a big move like this to compete. So we can go dynamic WR, shut down CB, ALL Pro OL in the first round.. We have to get to the QB or were finishing dead last in our division
Making a "big move" in a panic to "compete" would be one of the worst moves a competent GM could make. That's how you get horrible contracts that fan bases freak out about the next year.

This is true (although the quotes around "compete" are not necessary; that's not an ambiguous term). However, the 49ers no longer have a single pro-bowl-caliber DL. When you have a chance to add one you do. Justin Smith was added via free agency. This wouldn't be a short-term move to compete; it would be a good move for the long-term health of the franchise as long as they didn't over-pay.

Exactly my point.. Our whole division is getting strong, and most teams are getting stronger and younger at the same time. We arent exactly improving but are getting older. Hardy can be a defensive corner stone, and We are losing 2 of ours. When you have a chance to sign a player to fill one should. Like i said he had 1 isolated incident of bad judge, He doesnt have multiple failed drug test, or dumb ass incidents with gun charges. So yes its a chance you take as well as cover your ass with a well put together contract.
They should've drafted Hardy in the first place like I was yelling to Trent through the TV on draft day. I don't think he heard me. :(

When you focus only on the most positive aspects of opponents' offseasons and spin ours as being negative, it makes your argument strong.

Do we even have any cap space for hardy if we release brooks?

He dropped mainly due to injury concerns, but he was there in the 6th freeking round. After about round 4, I was like, "Why is Greg Hardy still on the board? And more importantly, why isn't Baalke knocking over children and old ladies en route to hand his name in?"

I think it's like 1.5 million if they release Brooks. They'll probably keep him.

I'm actually hoping they'll move him to ILB. Picturing T-rex Borland trying to cover Jimmy Graham is not comforting.

I think the 9ers organization has had enough with players that's been in a domestic violence case, I wouldn't hold my breath on Greg Hardy signing with SF. It's bad enough they have to deal with a case right now.

Moving on.....

Hardy is a great talent no doubt, but I remember him once thought of as a 1st round pick but dropped all the way down to the 6th round for off field issues, I guess 31 teams were right about him.

We're getting older? I don't think that is true at all.

I have no problem bringing in Hardy, but to do so in a reactionary panic would be a mistake.
