Promoting Gamble will not change the terrible culture this team has.
I have nothing against Gamble these are just my opinions

For sure. If you're going to fire Baalke and promote Gamble I don't see any benefit to that. Gamble is not the aggressive GM to bring in free agents and he's been part of this culture for 10 years and is Baalke's right hand man.

You might as well keep them both, hire another GM who has an offensive track record, aggressive in free agency and hire a President of Football Operations to oversee everyone.

Or clean sweep it all and leave it all up to Jed and Paraag.

Right...this is the worst option possible. The only other outcome I can see is Jed bringing in an outside GM and demanding they give Chip another year. Which again is a horrible option which will bring in a GM candidate nobody wants

So true. A strong GM will want to be...a...GM. Forcing a HC on him is very York-Gase-Tomsula like.
It's so clear, but for the yorks, so impossible to see.... And this would be the best case scenario for us.... because It's either an astounding degree of incompetence, or an even higher degree of screwyouness.

I believe Gamble might be promoted but not till they've interviewed a couple of other candidates. In the end it will go to Gamble and Gamble will keep Kelly.
Promoting gamble is a non-move "move". It is the one that the Jedster is almost surely going to make. Why? Because it does absolutely nothing and keeps us static again for another 1-2 yrs, just treading water , trying to keep our head above water. It is also a lock because it is so easy for a guy who seemingly puts NO thot into his moves. This will once again give Jed something to do, yet without doing anything at all. Perfect. May be he can give the anal-ytics guy some more power to add to what ever he already does, which makes many of us think he is the architect of the mess we currently call the 49ers.

No brainer for Jed and Paraag.

"We'd like to thank Trent for all his years of dedication to our football organization. As we turn the page to 2017, we'd like to take this opportunity to introduce Tom Gamble as our new GM. Tom has been with us for over 10 years now and has worked up through the ranks. We're really excited for Tom as both Paraag and I know we completely own him like a puppet and will be our future fall guy!"

Jw. How is gamble an improvement from baalke? I hate baalke but gamble is from the same line so I dont see any imrpovement whatsoever.
In 2012, Gamble oversaw both the college and pro personnel efforts of the 49ers while working closely with general manager Trent Baalke.

Gamble helped with the 2012 draft for the Niners.

Let that sink in.

All we're going to get is busts.
I hope that Gamble will retained because he'll help with the continuity and draft prep. However, I do NOT like the idea of a Gamble/Kelly pairing ala the Eagles.

I'm in the camp that hopes for a complete tear down and starting over with the front office structure.

Keeping Gamble only makes sense if you're keeping Kelly. He's an asset to a rookie general manager due to experience across multiple areas of an NFL front office.
