Tom Gamble, former Assistant GM

Can't wait until Baalke is gone single handedly ruined this franchise because of his ego and hope he takes Gabbert with him as well.

I see this personnel change/adjustment as a learning for Baalke from his last go around.

Former college head coaches tend to want more power as that's the structure they are used to in their prior lives. Harbaugh sought it, Carroll has it, and Kelly had it.

Baalke is in a make or break position as the 49ers GM. He can't have another disaster offseason with the retirements and coaching changes. He needs to hit on his draft picks and FA signings.

Kelly needs to recover from a PR disaster from the East Coast. He denies wanting GM control but he's shown otherwise in his last go around.

It's imperative that Baalke and Kelly are on the same page, and here enters Gamble. Baalke said Gamble was pushing for Kelly hard and had set up the initial introduction. Gamble has loyalty to both Kelly and Baalke. And with a new offensive system, scouting and scheme fit is vital. Both need to be on the same page.

Gamble is a good football scout, but I see his role as more of a mediator between the two gentlemen vs a true scout/ast GM.

Yeah and if I hit the power ball.......... Chances of both of those happening are nearly impossible.

Agree, Trent is on the hot seat.

He has had some good draft picks and some suckage.

I feel JT was a Jed pick all the way and last season he couldn't blame Trent.

This year is a different story and 5-11 won't cut it.

I've read [sorry, no link, that Trent is VERY stubborn and won't budge an inch.

That was Nolan's, Singletary's and JH's downfall. Stubborness.

You can't ride a dead horse and if the horse is dead get a new one.

Tren will need to comprimise to make this work.

I really hope so.

Trent Baalke said it was his idea to promote Tom Gamble to assistant GM & he knew it would invite speculation about his job security. #49ers
Everything is pointing towards Gamble being the next GM whenever that happens…but wha'ts his track record when it comes to drafting? He had a stint in Philly before SF...

Not happening next season. I just want to prepare you guys for this.

The QB situation will likely be a bail out and statistically I expect the niners to be better in all areas compared to last year. That'll give an impression of overall improvement even if their W/L record is same as last year…But his time will come or else why'd they promote and give Gamble the title of assistant GM?
