The no chance in hell of happening Leveon Bell dream thread

I still think they have one of the worst FO
in the league.

Why? They constantly hit on value picks and have a solid drafting record. Their biggest issue was the HC stubbornly stcking with a DC that the league had long ago figured out.

In a vacuum Bell is still a top 5 back and he probably will be for the next 3 years. I agree the system and talent on the Steelers has contributed to his success but I think we have a really good system as well. It will be interesting to see what happens with him. I'm not really on board now because we are still a year away. Maybe next year as a FA we think about it but I worry what that will do to the lockeroom with Mckinnon. Again only reason I think we should consider it is that we still have so much cap room and players coming off their contracts next couple of years.

Can we have Mike Munchak with Bell

Because AR is not going to be there a lot longer and they haven't given him enough weapons to get to SB.

Getting rid of Nelson is debatable.

Their historical reluctance to go after FA who 's make a huge difference.

Any of the new Fa receivers would, IMO, love to have AR throwing to them.
We should offer them McKinnon and a 2nd rounder for Conner.

I honestly feel that the entire GB coaching staff should have been replaced years ago. McCarthy and co have been out coached in far too many playoff games. AR has the one ring, but honestly, in a better organization he would likely have had more.
Pull the trigger and get Bell in the red and gold jersey. As I said before, send McKinnon on his way as I had real concerns earlier about him. Bell is a once in a lifetime type back and you make the trade. Just like the Mack trade, the longer this goes, the lower the draft pick because he's missing games. At least that's how I would do it. It is going to take some picks and a new contract. If you want to be in discussion for playoffs and SB, Bell is the answer as Jimmy G needs someone like this in the backfield.

They have maintained not wanting to trade him so there is no trigger to even consider pulling.

Isn't that what Oakland originally said about Mack? Just saying...

Mack could be negotiated with. Bell cannot.
Yes, let's trade for Bell so he can hold out here.

There's that too. There is no reason to believe that he'd play any sooner with the 49ers than with Pittsburgh. Nobody can give him the big money, long term deal he craves right now.

I'm not sure but if Bell signs the tag knowing he's traded and the team that is trading for him could then rescind that tag with the idea of paying him LT money, no? That's the only way I could see him getting moved.

There would have to be a "arrangement" made between the new team and Bell's agent. It's highly unlikely something like that happens.

Once you sign the tag there is no rescinding I don't believe. It's now guaranteed.

To trade him, he has to sign the tag. Once the player has signed the tag, it cannot be rescinded. The CBA also prohibits any discussion of a long term during the season while the player is on the franchise tag.

The 49ers could still franchise tag Bell in the offseason, but it would be at the cost of a third tag, around $24 million and they would not be able to trade him since the third tag is 100% exclusive.
