If I'm Dallas I try to get Zeke done before Bell gets paid. There's going to be some team that will give him the absurd money he craves. Jets?

To trade him, he has to sign the tag. Once the player has signed the tag, it cannot be rescinded. The CBA also prohibits any discussion of a long term during the season while the player is on the franchise tag.

The 49ers could still franchise tag Bell in the offseason, but it would be at the cost of a third tag, around $24 million and they would not be able to trade him since the third tag is 100% exclusive.

I see well then he's ass is just gotta sit until week 10 then.

Yes, let's trade for Bell so he can hold out here.

There's that too. There is no reason to believe that he'd play any sooner with the 49ers than with Pittsburgh. Nobody can give him the big money, long term deal he craves right now.

The only way you do it is if somehow it works out like Khalil Mack.

So explain to me how Mack signed his deal so quickly if there was not tampering done by his agent and the Chi front office ?

Khalil Mack wasn't playing under a franchise tag.

Yup. Rules prohibit talking a long term deal until after season.

So, did Bell ever come in and sign his 2018 tag? Or does the team only need to indicate they're tagging him and that's good enough ? I thought the player has to accept the tender, but maybe that's just the follow up 1 yr agreement terms.

As Connor continues to play well, i wonder how much that affects Bells worth and people start thinking scheme and o line have a lot to do with it.

Yep. Exclusive franchise tag.

That the team fills out the paperwork is sufficient. Bell can't be traded until he signs the tag and once he signs the tag he can't talk long term deal with his new team either.

Thanks for the clarification. Too risky of a deal unless we can unload a deadweight player in return. I wouldn't offer any high value picks. Remember when we let TO go for a low round pick ?
Why not try for him and Antonio Brown after this past weekend with AB's tantrum on the field? If you're going to dream, dream BIG.

We just signed McKinnon for big money. Trading for, and then giving Bell big money to play the same role makes no sense.

Why not? McKinnon isn't a workhorse back anyway. So even with him on the team there's still plenty of touches for Bell.

Because we're not going to blow all our cap space on 2 players that fill the same role. Its redundant.

Niners are running the ball fine. Bell while a great player isn't top of the list as far as priorities/needs go...I feel like people just want a big name player just to say he's on the team.

How is having one great game and one bad game classified as continuing to play well?
