The no chance in hell of happening Leveon Bell dream thread

There are two ways to look at this: 1. The 49ers would want Bell only as a one-year rental for the 2018 season and would roll with McKinnon once healthy in 2019. 2. The 49ers would cut McKinnon, whose salary is only $4.3 next season, and go with Bell long-term. If general manager John Lynch wants Bell as his long-term bell cow, option No. 2 makes sense. The 49ers can put together a trade package the Steelers would want, and Pittsburgh also gets to send Bell out of the AFC. - Bleacher Report.

I love how they ignore the inconvenient fact that he'd just hold here. Thanks for posting that because there's no way in hell I'm giving Bleacher Report clicks with that BS content.

While I do believe we should have traded for Mack, and maaaaybe should have traded for Gordon, trading for Bell would be dumb. Just sign him in free agency if you really want him.
wouldn't make a difference at this point
Save the draft picks we are going to need them.

Agreed. Mack would have been a great pickup
I MIGHT consider trading like a 4th and Armstead or something like that ONLY if McKinnon was released and there wouldn't be a bunch of dead money left over. It would be a savage move by Lynch/Shanahan - ice cold.

Still don't know if I'd pull the trigger though. While they are the same age (almost) Bell has WAY more wear and tear on his body overall. Yes, McKinnon tore the ACL but in this day and age...normally he'd come back at 100%.

Probably stick with McKinnon but I'd definitely think about it.

I'd give them a 2nd round pick in a heartbeat......but which player they talkin bout is what will matter?? And no Armstead is not gonna get the deal done. I'd actually trade them Brieda and Tartt.

Ward's contract will forbid him of any trade, no one is gonna want to take on that $8.5 mil.

Nope, we need edge rushers more than anything else. Not trading away valuable early round draft capital that we could need for a RB who want to be paid 15 million plus per year.

Love Bell but not as the price to get him and the price to retain him.

Too many moving parts to make a Bell trade happen.

There are rumors we could be one of the interested teams. Should we go after him even though we have Breida and McKinnon?

We got much more bigger needs, spend the money elsewhere. Bell has Jets or Colts written all over him

This. Bell isn't a particularly good fit for this offense and RB becomes pretty much plug and play once the OL is set. With Breida, McKinnon and Morris on the roster, I'd far rather see that money go to edge rusher, CB, WR, safety...etc.
