The no chance in hell of happening Leveon Bell dream thread

I don't see how the Steelers improve their weaknesses this off-season if they dedicate a large chunk of their cap room to use the franchise tag on Bell. This is a veteran team that's built to win now, but their current group probably isn't good enough to beat New England or Jacksonville.

I could see their front office thinking long and hard about just letting him walk and drafting his replacement in this loaded RB class.

I mean I can't see how they don't tag him (they do only have like $5.5 million in cap space).

Honestly I can't see SF paying that much for him, but it would be fun to watch lol

Sportrac has the Steelers at $2.9 million. lol

Those fools better start chopping away at some salaries if they expect to re-sign or tag Bell.

OTC has them at $5.9 only guy I can really see them cutting is Mitchell, which would save them around $5 million (that would basically cover their rookie contracts). Not sure what they are gonna do

They have what 15 days to figure it out?

Right now there are a few teams that need to figure out their cap situation including

Atlanta, Pittsburg, Miami, KC, Baltimore, Seattle

Yup you're correct

Edit: they have until March 6th to place the tag according to NFLnetwork

Nah. I have mixed feelings about paying a running back $11M a year anyway. Just like if we had gotten Ansah or Peters, I would be excited, but still concerned.

I'm not worried because I don't see them letting him go

It won't hapoen, most likely he gets a deal in Pitt...but I'll take Bell and what he brings to the table and pay him $15 million vs what some people want in signing Watkins which might be for $10+ million per.

Agree.

There are LOTS of talented WRs running around out there that would thrive in Kyle's offense. That was proven last year.

Running backs are almost as plentiful though more injury prone. Dollar for dollar I would rather spend on a RB but I don't think Bell is worth that at this point. Already had a major injury and a PED incident. Pump the brakes.

Spend the money on the OL. They last longer and make everyone else look better.

This isn't a fair comparison. Anyone would take Bell. You're setting up a bit of a false argument. WR v RB when we don't have a RB lol. Not an apples to apples thing here.

Not that he'll be a cut, but do you really see Bryant being there next year?

It's all about spending money on offensive play-makers and I'll spend it on bell over Watkins all day.
