Taylor Gabriel- RFA

Shanahan used Gabriel in so many ways last year. Teams really had to worry about his speed as well as his ability to run the ball on an end around or WR screen. Shanahan loves speed. Robinson and Gabriel have followed him because of that.

One thing that stood out to me in that vid was Toilolo's blocking. He made a lot of those WR screens work. I think a better blocking tight end will be sought after by the 49ers. Marcus Baugh is a guy I like in the middle rounds of the draft.

Why trade Goodwin? I think Goodwin has proven to be a pretty good deep threat this year. If we have Ridley and Garcon starting, with Goodwin and Taylor as the third and 4th, we'd have a pretty good group. Add another rookie to round out our group and we're set for now.

This. Not to mention the fact that Shanny is the one who brought Gabriel to Atl specifically for the scheme fit. I loved what he did last year

True. Was just saying you can trade Goodwin to sign say Gabriel by adding a lil money on top essentially. Totally cool with Goodwin back as a 3 doe.

Or Garcon/Ridley/Goodwin/Trent Taylor/Gabriel.

Now THAT would be scary, legitimately if we have good pass protection. Five receivers that could beat their man more often than not. Not one dominant receiver, but each creating match-up problems and opens things for other players.

It's also cheaper

We need a WR who has big play making ability with some size.

Would be a Great with a capital G WR core.

Agreed, but we could still use Gabriel as well...

Those are extremely rare to be able to do it all. But teams like Brown Odell Baldwin Diggs Hill are all great Receivers for their team. I agree, if they could be an great all around WR with size I'd love that but I'd rather have someone a few inches shorter but could do it all. And this isn't talking about Gabriel cause he's going to be our 4th/5th Wr probably

Frankly, he's just not worth giving up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for.

Totally agree.

He was a RFA last year. He'll be an UFA this year and will be free to sign with any team.

This is correct. The thread was started a year ago, when Gabriel was due to be a RFA. He's scheduled to be a UFA in 2018.

Prolly in the minority, but I see no difference between him and Goodwin.

Goodwin wins deep, he doesn't do much else.

Gabriel is shifty and does his best in space. He can also win deep though, I think he ran a 4.28

Yeah assuming we get an upgrade at #2... Wouldnt mind trading Goodwin and going after Gabriel as well
Murphy has played decently well also to be granted a chance to win a spot next year too.

Both would work in the system after doing some thinking.
