This. I said it earlier and I'll say it again. If we find a way to trade for Beckham, the combo of Shanahan, Garoppolo, and Beckham has a chance to be better than the offense that Shanahan had in Atlanta, and that Falcons offense was pretty scary.

We better make a trade for odell beckham jr. if not the LA rams will trade for him and they will win the super bowl this year ! who ever trades for odell beckham the niners or the rams that's who is gonna be the top dog in this division moving forward.

Slow down. It's easy to forget to the Rams probably had the least amount of injuries of any team in the football last year. No guarantee they will be so lucky this season.

one point you guys missed is when a WR receives this much hype and starts acting like a diva..their play starts to drop

Um, do you have any evidence to back up what on the surface seems to be a ridiculous claim?
To anyone who thinks we shouldnt give up the 9th overall....

Let me see if I am understanding the logic here....

You guys are basically saying that instead of Odell Beckham Jr, you would rather have one of:

Denzel Ward
Roquan Smith
Tremaine Edmumds
Derwin James

Right?

That is what you guys are saying right? You think for the success of the team for the foreseeable future, one of those guys would help us win more games that Odell Beckham Jr would?

This. He must still be thinking Dez is one of the top receivers

Can we get Odell on the rookie wage scale for the next five years like players you mentioned above?

Who cares? Odell deserves every penny. And most of these guys won't hold a candle to his production

You're forgetting to add one more thing that is pretty huge if you want to mention foreseeable future. He's already stated that he wants to be paid like the top WR, meaning 20 plus mil a year. After seeing his antics both on and off the field, yes I'll take one of those guys you mentioned at #9, keep that cap space and extend Brown, Buck, Tartt depending how this season goes. With all that said, admittedly I'd be pretty pumped if we did take a chance on him and I agree that he would be absolutely DEADLY in our offense. OBJ, GOODWIN outside and GARCON in the slot
I signed up to profess my LOVE for Odell Beckham. Go get him Mr Lynch if you can do it without giving up a 1st. Offer the 2nd round pick this year and Solomon Thomas...I would offer Rueben Foster instead of Thomas but I doubt they would want Foster with his recent troubles.
I'm entertained by just reading everyones responses lol I'll say 1 thing it's a dilemma considering how much teams value 1st round picks and how great Beckham is, the dilemma is all the bs that he comes with and anyone saying he doesn't come with bs is lying, losing his head on the field and committing dumb cheap penalties to his actions on the sidelines is classless however anyone puts it, he's been all over the news with that video which will lessen his deservedly extremely high trade value, but not hurt it considering from what I kno he's never been arrested or failed a drug test, his injuries will be a concern especially with the amount of cash he wants..all that said I'd offer this years 2nd, 4th and next years 1st..I'm not trading this years 9th..next years pick should be 32nd overall lol I'm sure the offer won't fly but imagine if the offseason was signing Jimmy G, Sherman, Richburg, McKinnon, Attachao, trading for Beckham and still being able to land either Roquan Smith or Harold Landry..dream offseason..

I think it would be pretty ridiculous to try and compare a handful of rookies to an all pro type player. Nobody is really saying that. People feel more confident in Shanahan being able to orchestrate a top ten offense with or without Beckham in comparison to feeling ok about say a duo of Malcom Smith and Reuben Foster going forward.

Smith is nothing more than a bridge gap type player and Foster is going to have to earn some trust back. A player like Roquan would make alot of people feel better about the long term stability of the linebacker corps which right now are built around a talented knuckle head (Foster) who will be on a short leash, a bridge player (Smith), and a high end special teams linebacker (Coyle). In the secondary you have a talented youngster in Witherspoon and a wily vet (Sherman) coming off a major injury and minor surgery on his other foot.

This is from Kyle himself...

But Shanahan said having a Julio Jones is a luxury, not a necessity.

"You definitely don't need that," Shanahan said. "If you ever have it, then keep it. It's very fun to have and it'll help you a ton. But that's not something you need.

"You need guys who can beat man-to-man coverage. You need guys who are explosive enough to scare the secondary so it can open up your play-action game. And you need guys who can separate on third down. That doesn't have to be a receiver. You'd like it to be all five of your eligibles -- three receivers, your tight end and your running back."

In the end it comes down to the old adage that you can scheme on offense but you need talent on defense. Shanahan had the number 5 NFL offense in 2012 and not one receiver had 50 catches. Receivers and other skill positions can be schemed open and a offense can still perform at a high level with or without all pro skill players, especially when you have a franchise quarterback. On defense you need more high end talent to be upper tier than you do on offense. Remember this defense isn't some thought provoking O' Neil defense that is supposed to be designed to confuse a offense pre snap. It's a bland style of defense that is designed to allow talent to win on the field without overthinking things.

Was thinking the same thing

Ok...and I'm just saying you aren't getting him unless you part with a 1st. Cant just offer up mid/late picks in trades and 1 year prove it deals in FA to everyone .
And yes it is lowballing when the going rate is at least a 1st

How is two 2nd rd picks equal to low-balling? Those aren't low end draft picks.

My point was I have no idea why you keep bringing up how they started the season and asking how did he help them win. And he's not going to get $20 mil...he's most likely get AB money...which if we go by his production and age, then yes he's worth that. And giving up say #9 and a mid-late round pick is fair value for arguably the best WR in the game, who's still young. Throwing a 2nd at them is not going to get it done...that was my other point . I have lots of points lol

Then you're missing the whole pt if you don't get it...a WR isn't gonna magically make a team a playoff contender. It's not even close to the same value as a QB/edge rusher/LT/CB IMO. SO paying him at the value of a QB AND giving up high draft capital (with cheap contracts for 4-5 yrs).

he most certainly will be asking for $20 million per yr...Sammy Watkins just got $16 million per yr lol.

Giving up the 9th pick lol good lord. This isn't fantasy football

Right id rather have a young talent player who's on a cheap contract for the next 5 yrs AND take that money that you'd give OBJ and sign two good free agents....this isn't the NBA where you need 6-7 players to be a contender.
