I don't see us drafting a OG that high but we could end up drafting an OT to develop.
Agree. Future LT is a significantly greater need.
Which explains why they're wooing the pants off of Kolton Miller.

I think so but not at our pick. That's why I'm hoping for a trade down from 9 to get an extra 2nd+.

Trade back?
I think Lynch has said this offseason that a Trade back would be ideal.

Don't understand how anyone can hate on this signing - it was cheap and a 1 year deal. He had the ability to be a top 10 pick in the draft (and was not a reach pick either) and actually performed as a avg to low end starting caliber OG his first year in a zone scheme in Dallas which was the scheme all Draftniks projected him to be the best fit in. We run much more heavy outside zone which is even more tailored towards his strengths. Yes he likely will never be a high end starter but will at the very least be high end depth and able to start if needed. By no means does this prevent us from taking a guard, but all along I've felt our best guard fits were in Rd 3-4 with guys like Wyatt Teller and Braden Smith who are tailor made for our scheme and could blossom into high end starters.

Trade back?
The only first round OG I see us drafting is Connor Williams in a trade back - simply because he can play OG right away and has the versatility to eventually become a starting caliber OT (which has positional value to go in rd 1).

Early 2nd round? Possibly. Late 2nd round when the 49ers are drafting? Not a chance in hell provided he doesn't knock off a convenience store or get caught with a suitcase full of coke prior to the draft.

There's always a chance. That's what happens in the draft. Players slide. Every year.

A lot of experts I have seen have us trading back with the Bills, so the Bills can jump Miami and take Mayfield. The Bills have the 12th and 22nd picks in the 1st round, going by draft value charts, we if we took the 12th pick from them, then we could also net the 96th(late 3rd) and 121st (late 4th) picks in the draft. Not to much value there, but sometimes teams will pay a little extra when trading up for a QB? So perhaps we could trade 9 for 12 and 56? We would be gaining 190 points according to the chart, if we could make that deal.
Moving down 3 spots and adding a late 2nd would be nice, the Bills have two 2nd round picks, so perhaps they make that deal to get a QB? We could use the extra 2nd, to help fill some holes, or continue to trade down a little more in the 2nd to net more picks for next year? Either way, I don't want to move down past 12 in round 1, because the guy I want is Edmunds, and he won't be there at 22. Edmunds is a beast of a LB, and he can play all 3 LB spots, and has the potential to become a beast of a pass rusher, he's only 19 years old right now, he's very young.

Bills have the 12th pick. And Mayfield isn't falling to #9. If the 49ers are involved in a trade down scenario, it would be for Lamar Jackson.

Not with Hernandez, he's either the second or third best guard in the draft and a Day 1 starter. Nelson, Hernandez and Wynn will all be gone before the 49ers get up to bat in the 2nd round, along with one or two other guards as well.

I agree that he's one of the top guards. I think 2nd best. I'm saying that it's possible he slides. Whether a result of something scouts see that we don't, team specific schemes, team needs or whatever. Everyone knew Foster had some flags but nobody thought he'd slide as far as he did. Aaron Rodgers? Happens every year. Teams will reach for players everyone thinks should go later and early round prospects slide. Draft has way too many variables to predict anything with certainty. That's kinda what it sounds like you're doing.
