Swapping out one bust in Tomlinson for another in Cooper.

No thanks Jeff. This dude was Chilo Rachal bad with the Cards.

He played better with the Cowboys than he did with the Cardinals.
Spot on . Committing the gravest sins a Man could.

I meant to ask before, are you a K.J. Parker fan? Just curious since Poldarn is a character in the Scavenger Trilogy by him.

No, he was still one of the worst guards in football. That he started a bunch of games means they had no one else due to injury. He also had All Pro players to the left and right of him.

As a camp.body, whatever, if they have any plans on making him the starter, Jimmy might as well start praying now.

Cooper nearly single-handedly killed Carson Palmer on multiple occasions. If he somehow wound up as the starter than that means the team bombed at upgrading the position in the draft and that Jimmy better upgrade his life insurance policy.

At worst he's depth.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/22848386/jonathan-cooper-san-francisco-49ers-vie-starting-guard-job

"General manager John Lynch said in a statement that Cooper will compete for a starting job with the 49ers.

"Having started 27 games in four NFL seasons, Jonathan brings great experience to the interior of our offensive line," Lynch said in the statement. "We look forward to him competing for a starting job at guard, while also bringing a veteran presence to our locker room. Jonathan is a welcome addition to our team."

Cooper started a career-high 13 games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2017, playing between Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith and center Travis Frederick. He helped solidify the line after the Cowboys lost Ronald Leary to free agency last year to the Denver Broncos."
he's athletic and he was a former first rounder. What is depressing about this signing is that he's the best guard that the 49ers currently have.

True story. When an injury-riddled bust is your top OG, you took some wrong turns somewhere.
whoever is evaluating our OL and potential FA's is retarded

Yup...been banging the tables here all off season. If there is one position that could screw our season, it's G...both of them.

I hope Erik Magnuson beats them all out.

He literally has been cut by Belicheck and Cleveland. Given up on by Arizona and Dallas. BUST

Sounds like he lost his starting jobs because of injury not performance.

It's a one-year deal at a position of need. Chill out.

We will literally sign at least 20 more one-year deals before training camp commences. They can't all be All-Pros, dudes. Somebody has to be a backup.

At guard all we have is backups

Cooper started 13 games last season. Was not a backup.

B/c they lost Leary to Denver and moved Collins to RT. If he was so good, why didn't Dallas even try to bring him back. He's another Fusco
