I was thinking he could be a solid player for third downs, jimmy throwing in tight windows to him.

Unless he's really that horrible now where he couldn't pull that off.

You serious? Everyone knows he's done, it's best to develop and see what we have at wr than to take up a roster spot with his personality

Of course it's better to see what we got . But if Hurd/Taylor don't come back, Deebo further aggravates his injury and another roster spot opens up.

I wouldn't say everyone knows. Saints brought him in and he got hurt. But many players have gotten brand new contracts coming straight off an Achilles injury. More than likely it wouldn't work out but I don't think it would hurt at all to bring him in as a rental. His personality isn't about to mess this locker room up in less than half a season.
IMO, going after him is a signal of desperation.
He doesn't do a single thing better than the people we already have on roster. Pretty sure this is true for 31 other NFL teams as well.
I thought he was still technically on the saints? What a con job.

We've got Sanders and Goodwin - we don't need another veteran.

He's better than most of our WRs at getting touchdowns

Nothing wrong with kicking tires. No risk, get him on a super cheap prove it deal. If it works then great. If it doesn't, then move on. Belichick does it with almost every controversial WR or WR that was great not so long ago. He keeps them until it's no longer working out.

Not that I want the 9ers to sign him, cause they really don't need to. But weren't there rumors that the 49ers were looking to sign Dez Bryant?

He's looking good.

correction: he WAS better than most of our WRs at getting touchdowns. Several years ago. It's not that he's controversial. It's that he's old and slow. Hell, let's kick the tires on TO while we're at it....

*ETA as far as scoring touchdowns, his last year playing he barely outclassed Dante Pettis' rookie year TDs, and bryant is now 2 years removed from the game. He's done.

Truth

If there is a vet we'd go after it certainly wouldn't be him.

Belicheck didn't do the Dez dance - he went and got Sanu.
Does he have anything left in the tank to offer?
