49ERS release Mike Person

good reach blocker good feet. Thanks for being there when our line fell apart. maybe he comes back for depth.
Wouldn't mind Person back on the minimum, and then cut Compton. All a rouse to get Person back on a cheaper deal. LOL Person gives us yet another guy like Garland on the bench who can play all 3 IOL spots. Assuming our starting line is Staley-Tomlinson-Richburg-Brunskill-McGlinchey, having a bench with Coleman+Garland+Skule+Person isn't bad, but drafting a IOL early who can play all 3 spots makes the most sense, so that might be the best option.

Now with the new PS rules, perhaps we can get Person to sign onto ours, and he is basically first man up if/when we have an injury on the IOL. Compton to me shouldn't make the roster, and is kind of a head scratcher signing to me.

He was pretty bad and got owned during the Superbowl. Glad he's gone.

And we replaced him with someone worse. How does this help?

Assume Brunskill is the starter not Compton

OK, and who's behind Brunskill?
I think this is part 1 of "Fix the OL episode". Brunskill, Garland, and Compton will all fight for a shot to start at RG. Part 2 will be a Draft Pick, added to the mix to get us a clear cut starter, with the best 'loser' being our backup (although Garland wud slide back to C as his out, he'd still probably be on the team after losing out here). The kid from Washburn whom we talked to extensively shud be there day 3.

Compton, who's worse than Person and we paid more for

Exactly my point. Don't understand how cutting Person for Compton makes us a better team.

Hopefully the plan is to draft a G in the earlier rounds once we trade down. Compton would make more good depth. But if we actually replaced Person for Compton and don't draft a G or two, than Lynch and co. are pretty dumb.

I think looking at it as Person for Compton is the wrong way to view it. It looks to me like the team chose Daniel Brunskill as their RG. Compton was brought in as a backup. The salaries on the surface may look like Compton got a little more but without seeing the details I'd venture to guess a lot of that ticket price is tied up in performance and playing time incentives he won't see and the deal will in fact be cheaper when compared to Persons.
if he hasn't been resigned yet, that's great. If we are unable to find any quality linemen in the draft, we can bring him back on a more team friendly deal
