Shaquil Barrett

He's been a valuable edge rusher in Denver, but team depth, bad luck, and a hip injury last year have kept him mostly in a backup role. Now he's a free agent and he says he wants a chance to start. The Broncos have Miller and Chubb, so obviously that means changing teams. Any interest?

Shaquil Barrett on Denver, 'I want to be back here but it's not looking likely'
He was underrated on here.. then overrated and now I think he's underrated again. I think he's pretty damn talented and would come a lot cheaper and younger than Graham.
I would gladly have him, but at this point, I want more from the FA edge acquisition. I think they can go into next season with an edge group made up of rookie edge+free agent+Street+Blair. That free agent, however, needs to be a considerable upgrade from Marsh and Watson.

Barrett isn't an upgrade? I think he's surely an upgrade. I agree we shouldn't go cheap but Barrett could be our double down FA that adds Sam backer value.

That's why I made sure to put considerable upgrade in there. Sure, he's an upgrade(who isn't over Marsh and Watson), but I don't think he's enough of an upgrade. I need more.

Who is the considerable upgrade though? Lawrence, Clowney, Ansah, Graham? Only the last two will make it to FA most likely. I would be happy with one but gonna cost us and I think we can get Barrett as well.

I'll let you know in March when franchise tag deadline passes and the new year starts.

My FA edge/SAM choice!!
I'd get this guy in FA to man our SAM position with Nchoeza or Marsh as backups. Id then DRAFT a guy like Clelin Ferrel, Bosa, or DT like Williams. we would have a few Rush type guys instead of 1 and some "maybes"..

Barrett would be ideal. I thought Marsh did awful in coverage though? I stated elsewhere I'm okay with loading up on other positions in free agency and using the draft to acquire pass rushers. Signing Barrett would go a long way towards giving us that flexibility.
Marsh isn't a SAM. He didn't take a snap at SAM this season and rightfully so. Dude sucks in coverage. It was Nzeocha and Malcolm Smith the entire year.

I think they should look for someone with the versatility to play all three LB spots. The SAM plays 15% of total snaps. 15%!! It's almost a waste of a roster spot to have a designated SAM.

So our sam must be able to rush in nickel packages and play LB. Sounds like Barrett to me. ;)

Yeah, Marsh IS terrible in coverage, but he could give a value as a backup and ST's and as an extra pass rusher. He's a backup for roster spot only. Nzcheoza actually a better backup and pro bowl level ST player, so either/or. But think Barrett wud be a great under wire acquisition..
