FA Alternative to Earl Thomas?

I wouldn't say they ran it a ton since Kyle said they would be running more of it. I could be wrong about that though, that's why I asked if we were marred to this scheme instead of making a statement. I would like to know how often we went with Wide 9 and two deep S, but I probably can't get those numbers without rewatching every play.

We confused Wilson in our win against Seattle by showing a single high look, but having both safties play high post snap. I think Saleh evolved last season.

Like many - would love ET and I really think we will land him.

If we can't get him

Thoughts on Weddle??

He would be cheaper.

Weddle is not an alternative to Thomas. For the past couple of years, he was getting by on his huge knowledge bank, being able to figure out what was happening quickly enough to make up for his loss of speed.

He would be cheaper because everyone knows he is not close to Thomas in performance.

I still prefer Adrian Amos as second choice to Thomas. He won't be much cheaper but is younger though not of the same pedigree.
Weddle is not a fit for many reasons

No thanks...if not Thomas I'm all in on Amos.

Weddle is a solid plan b.

... he's done.. he'll just get in the way of our young and soon to be star in Marcell Harris..

Harris is a box safety not a FS.
Weddle had zero INT's last season. We struggled with turnovers last year. If not Earl, I think we are looking elsewhere at safety.
Just give him his money. He's a perfect fit and was still playing at a high level.
It also doesn't close the door on Colbert, allowing him to learn behind the best, and hopefully take over 2 years down the line.
Amos!! Amos!! Amos!!

isn't Amos a SS not a FS?

I would argue so is Weddle at this point honestly.

Eddie Jackson plays the SS role

I thought Fangio would rotate them around to do different looks. Amos would be a great plan b if Thomas doesn't work out
Noobody!!
