Nope. If he has a good year, he'll get the tag.

I was hoping Joey was a realistic scenario for us, but upon reading this thread, it looks very improbable he'll wind up with us. I can see the Chargers F-tagging him and offering more than we could afford. I was hoping maybe it's still a possibility if Dee Fords contact is off the books, but it doesn't look so promising now.

A tag and trade could work, but would require Bosa forcing his way out, and his agent being clear with teams that he won't sign a long term deal with anyone but the niners at fair market value; not likely to happen as he just gave away all leverage. But it depends on how badly he wants to win a Superbowl with his brother. I dont think lynch is the type to give up khalil mack level draft compensation, but maybe Dee Ford and a 1st? Would require some really good drafting for the secondary, but financially, could work. Ford's contract + increase in cap cover him. AA contract off the books by the time Nick Bosa needs his, and Kinlaw's comes as Joey is leaving the team to get his 3rd contract elsewhere after having won 3 championships with the niners.

*IF* he wants to play with his brother bad enough....there's only one team that can satisfy that.

Also, the devil is in the details of the contract. He may be willing to make structural concessions for the Niners he wouldn't otherwise grant to another team that trades for him. We'll see.

Most likely.. he can be one it the best deep safeties in the game if he could ever stay healthy.

Why would San Diego accept Dee Ford as a centerpiece to a deal? If we are so eager to get rid of a guy with a chronic knee condition, why would the Chargers want to take him back and his large salary?

Dee Ford is still very good and his contract has an easy out after this season (I think if he gets traded before this season, the receiving team could technically cut him after 2020 with zero dead cap), but it would definitely have to take more than just Ford as the centerpiece. Something like Ford + a 2020 1st + a 2021 2nd. The main purpose of Ford is to match salaries; after June 1 they can basically be swapped for almost identical 2020 costs.
Wishful thinking thread.

Yeah, we definitely will see. I just want to have a good and decent edge rusher that can operate on the other side of Bosa. It would be such a cool story for the Bosa Brothers to be on the 49ers. Man, what a D Line - Kinlaw and Armstead on the inside and the Bosa Brothers on the outside. I'd be watching the look of the QB's as they drop back to pass on 3rd down and 10. I anticipate a Jim Everett reaction at that point.
But a D-Line if Bosa-Kinlaw-AA-Bosa would be crazy lol

So many in house players need to be signed who are due raises so it will be near impossible, I can't even trade for Joey Bosa in madden.

JBosa might take a discount if he truly wants to play with his Bro

I remember the Fahnorst brothers playing together with the 49ers. Man, those were the golden years. The Bosa brothers would continue that tradition.

Yeah. There's no chance of a meaningful discount. He may agree to a different structure, however.
