I would love to have him, but unfortunately he will be too much for the 9ers to bid on. Oh well another season of DJ Jones and Sheldon Day won't hurt.

I think Jones and Taylor ....and Street and Givens.. I think Day walks b'cuzz of numbers this year. Might even get another 2nd tier FA (Snacks Harrison ??). Ima hate losing AA and Day, but we have the depth to absorb it.

I was thinking about him until I dove in a little deeper. Jacksonville had similar talent to us on defense and runs a similar scheme. If he could be had on a bargain contract, I'd be willing to roll the dice on him. I remember watching a path to the draft, and he stood out as a good character guy that was a good dude. I don't remember many guys for their personality. I remember a light hearted, fun loving guy. Then I think of Solomon Thomas, and how someone who has experienced something he has, could benefit. This is one of those signings I feel could have a domino effect. He won't be Buckner, but he'll help Thomas grow and carry the load. Not my strongest argument, but something to consider. I worry about our IDL, and our ability to stop the run while maintaining adequate push up the middle. Buckner was the best combination of both. One of my biggest concerns with our defense was with the wide 9, teams ability to run up the middle.

So true, and seeing that Buck was traded, a combo of him, Thomas, and the others would soften the blow so to speak.

History of substance abuse, drag racing, and team violations so far in his NFL career. A little too fun loving. He was a great player on the Bills and has fallen off on the Jags. I'd be fine taking a flyer on him but not because of his character. He's also a fat run stuffer at this point in his career rather than a penetrator so he's not as good of a fit as some players we could draft.

This is why we have kris kocurek to whip him in to shape. This is a great low dollar flyer. Low risk high reward.

Sorta reminiscent of our salary cap purge of the mid-2000's.
