Being 1-2 mill on apy below what a player gets is maybe an indication of the FO placing a max value of what they feel a guy is worth. They may prefer to be overly cautious. You can call it money ball but the Pats and Ravens have done the same in the past.
You seemingly don't agree with the FO's philosophy and approach but that doesn't make them wrong, nor does it make your philosophy wrong either. There is no one surefire philosophy to building your team.
Those with less are still signing players.
I only took exception to his line about the CAP is the excuse as to why we missed out of 5 or 6 players so far. That's just a lie or someone who doesn't understand the cap at all and I know David enough to know that's not the case.
The FO always put a $ on a player and once it goes over, it's over...bridesmaid theme we've seen for years here.
This FO puts parameters on themselves like Lynch coming out days into the off season stating he was done restructuring contracts. Why put those hard limits on yourself if your goal is to always try to improve?
That's the only real issue I have with the FO. Basically, I just don't think they've put themselves up for optimal freedom in the draft and that's what FA is for.
That's doesn't mean it's the wrong approach...could still work out perfectly.
