I agree with you it's just a shame the Niners couldn't put in an offer because he may have been our best replacement for Buckner. And we wouldn't have to replace him in the draft and all it would cost us is 4-5 million to lock him up

Always the bridesmaid never the bride

They got a lot of the people they wanted last year

Yeah I doubt it happens but he would fit nicely. He's got speed and is a monster on screens. He's a nice utility type player overall. He could be used very creatively by a guy like Kyle.

You guys have to remember that the player has to want to come here as well.

Not always about the money.

Yep, takes two to Tango.

Harris wanted to get paid. Why else switch agents (hired Drew Rosenhaus), sit here in fa this long just to resign a one year deal with Denver that pays him virtually exactly what he made last year? He actually could make a little less depending on if he hits his added in incentive bonuses.

This was also the first time he entered the open market as a starting caliber player. All the signs point to him wanting to get paid. It's a shame because I think he's a good football player. Denver got excellent value.

Perhaps, but he wants to get paid and have years on his contract.

If he was only being offered one year deals, the best move for him would be take a one year deal from Denver. Staying with a system and culture he already knows will give him to best opportunity to replicate and or get better.

Betting on himself, proving hes for real, will give him a better shot at securing a long term deal next year.

So it still not all about money, and still has to do with player preference.

Then why did they go after Suh?

Was just about to post the same.

Yeah enough with defending the front office, fans cannot pick and choose their battles especially when it's inconsistent. This guy performed it better than Suh and he is less than half as much. I don't know many players that would not want to go to the Niners with their culture and their winning organization. Not to mention he would probably love to be on a line like we have.

I get wanting to give DJ Jones and Solomon Thomas a chance but then why would they go after Suh. So disappointing. We better nail this f**king draft

It's not defending the front office, I'm speculating why they're not pushing for a veteran DT. Sure they pursued Suh, but do you even know if thy offered him a contract? If they didn't, I'd hardly call that interested or pursuing.

Anyone got a better explanation on why they're not really pushing too hard for a veteran DT?? Besides Lynch is lazy blah blah blah!!

Most people understand what their doing. Just like I don't think most expected us to be highly active in fa. We also didn't expect Buck to be traded. With the cap expected to go up significantly next season and some new found cap space this season due to trading Buck. I think people have a right to be critical that the front office hasn't added really anything to the team that will either improve it or improve it's depth/competition.

There were and still are some players on the market that make us a better team and won't cost hardly anything. Guys like Hyder and Benjamin that were relevant 3 years or more ago don't add much of anything imo.

I'm a big Lynch supporter but it doesn't mean I or anyone else has to agree with every move he does or in this case doesn't do.

People have a right to be critical of the FO, but at the same time, we as fans don't really know what's going on behind closed doors. I'm actually glad that we're not hearing any rumors fly off about the 9ers, cause if there were it's all b******t anyway. They're pretty tight lipped about things, shoot, no one had no clue the Buckner trade was in the works all this time they were after Odell Beckham for a year and a half. I'm just saying in the end some fans just gotta have some patience and believe that they're working on upgrading the roster. And after coming from a Super Bowl they give me no reason not to believe.

Here's a quote from Harris before fa..."They have their way of doing things. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. If they would have definitely came with a legit offer before the season or early in the season, I definitely would have been listening."

That doesn't sound like a guy wanting to sign a prove it deal. You don't hire a new agent on the eve of fa, especially one as prominent as Drew Rosenhaus if your end game is to settle for a one year deal. This man wanted to get paid and was preparing to leave Denver to do so. I'm sure his preference would have been to get paid and return to Denver. That's most players preference to stay on their team and get paid.

Unfortunately his market was dry as evidenced that he sat on the fa market this long, so he decided to take the best deal he had currently. He returned to his old team for what could amount to less money than he got last year.

He took the best deal he could get and now has to play for something better next year. That part I agree with you on.

Thats was my whole point in the first place. He's a good player and settled for peanuts. I feel that if we offered a mil or mil and a half more we would have had him imo. It's whatever now. Just saying we could have had a good football player for cheap that would have absolutely contributed positively. The niners likely were never that interested. It's whatever now. This off-season they have been more interested in signing cheap players connected to the coaching staff and using the draft to add more talent. We still have a good team and if they hit on those picks even better. I just would have liked to add one or two high end rotational veteran players to the team.

I don't believe they do BUT new coaching staff with a 7 yr contract. They can do whatever they want and try to get draft capital for the future.

He's aalso FA after this yr and they just signed Anderson.

Would've loved this move
