Must've not been as bad as you think, I mean somebody thought he played decent enough to vote him into the Pro Bowl. Of course I wouldn't sign him to a mega deal but if it's team friendly and within the price Lynch is asking, why not!!

Why do people assume moving a CB to Safety will automatically make them better

Bc most of the time the reason you move a CB to S is bc he lost speed to keep up with a WR off the 5 yard bump while a FS is off the ball and can diagnose the play easier, basically read and react, not worry so much about getting burnt since you're far off the line of scrimmage, for Rhodes it's exactly that, he lost a couple steps, unsure if he's a great tackler so SS and playing in the box might hurt him more. Sherm is a great example, if he played in a straight man to man scheme he'd be done. But since he knows the ins and outs of the cover 3 scheme he's still at CB.
